Hi everyone,

Looking to get a CZ for my next addition. I am torn between the CZ 457 Jaguar XII or the Premium. Has anyone handled the two guns or seen them in person? Seems the differences are the front sights, 3" longer barrel on the jaguar and the stock finishing. Looking for peoples reviews, pictures and opinions on both models. I will mostly be using it with the factory open sights as I have other 22s with optics. What did everyone else go with?

I've owned and shot both.
If you are planning on using irons buy the jaguar hands down. That extra three inches of barrel length gives you a longer sight radius as well as making the Jag significantly quieter than the premium.

The Jaguar is such a joy to shoot with middle age eyes and no ear pro (subsonic). The elevation markings on the rear tangent are spot on and it's a hoot to hit a 10" gong at 200yds consistently with CCI SV...at least a second and a half of flight time before you hear the satisfying little "tink"!
Both my kids really enjoyed the Jag as well. I sold it and regret it terribly.

The premium was a nice rifle as well. The red fibre optic front sight was not as sharp for me as the Jags black blade. I ended up scoping it but the drop of the buttstock is quite low and not that great for optics.

I agree with everything above.
one more thing, premium stock is nicer than jaguar.

I got premium and put a area-419 rail and then a scope on it. The buttstock is definitely too low for this kind of settings, so I added a cheek riser bought from Amazon for $40.

you won't regret buying either of them. Premium is just about a little bit more expensive than jaguar though. I was at a store and handled both and decided to take premium.
either with iron sight or scopes (plus cheek riser for sure), they are fun and accurate.

I picked the premium over the jag for the walnut and slightly easier handling. I might end up with a jag someday too.

Btw, the most recent jags have a fibre optic front sight now.

Premium have a slightly nicer stock.

the stock wood quality wise has very subtle difference. Premium is slightly better than jaguar and lux, but between jaguar and lux I cannot figure out much difference.
I think the difference is mainly from the barrel and its length.
recently even the front sights are almost same now.

I was in a gun shop n AB this summer. A fellow had just purchased a Premium. Gorgeous rifle! I would buy one in a heartbeat. I have also seen the Jaguar in person. Nice enough rifle, but I didn't care for the Jaguar carved into the stock. Either one would make a good gopher shooter.

I should have said *nicer looking* than the Lux.

Can’t say about the wood quality…

I was thinking whichever one I got I would get rid of the fiberoptic front sight as I’ve never been a fan of them on any style gun. I was also thinking of going with some kind of peep sight possibly

Agree on the fiber optic front sight, to me they are just a blur vs the black front blade.
I'm usually a fan of a rear peep as well but I believe on the jaguar you would be doing it a disservice, that sighting system with the graduated rear tangent is magic even for my mid-forties eyes...give it a chance first.

Have handled the 457 Premium, 457 Lux, and 452 Ultra Lux, although it has been a while. The stock shaping looks very similar between the 28" barreled 452/457 "Ultra Lux's" and the 457 Lux.

The Lux/Ultralux has more drop at the comb and I like this stock for open/peep sights. On the Premium, I remember the stock comb being a bit higher than what I prefer for irons - forcing me to scrunch my face down more than I like.

I remember the 457 lux stock being slimmer than the Premium stock, which felt bulkier. The 457 stock has a more vertical grip, which I do like.

If you intend to use the open sights, I'd recommend the Jaguar.
