I have a few browning 22lr ,but I have no bolt actions 22lr for hunting grouse .
The two top riffles i see are CZ 457 or Tikka TX1 ( leaning towards 16 inch barrel)

Why did you choose the one you bought and not the other ?

Both are very good .22 rifles. For hunting, I'll say that the T1x is nice because Tikka makes a truly flush-fit magazine with 5-round capacity. The basic Tikka stock also allows for some basic modularity with the grips and fore ends.

I think you will find folks who own either are equally happy... Both are popular platforms for PRS, so more than accurate for grouse. I would make my decision based on what was the perfect stock for me.

I have a CZ 452 Lux with iron sights and a wooden stock that I love for walking around the woods in the fall/winter. Sometimes run a scope on it.

my 457 is exemplary!!

a couple of my friends are TIKKA boosters and they like their TX1's.

Mine is definitely more accurate but it's also tricked out and we are kinda splitting hairs for rimfire.

both have a fair bit of aftermarket support but the match chambered 457's are very impressive right off the hop,

from the bench I would say a match 457 is the choice,
for hunting, its a toss up but the Canadian Version of the 457 is pretty sweet,

if your small game hunting has you engaging targets past 50 yards, small differences might matter but both are easily capable of grouse to that distance, as is virtually any modern 22.

A High level of Accuracy in 22 is almost entirely ammo dependent.

Have both, accuracy wise they are equal, for hunting i would go with a polymer model, less weight is better, the only advantage with the CZ is how easy they are to modify for different needs.

I never owned a Tika, but lots of Brnos, 455s, 452s. I currently have a 452 Lux and a 455 in an Oryx chassis. These both are amazing. 457s have some nice features but none that would have me running out to replace either of my other rifles.

I have a T1x and a couple older CZ455's.

The Tikka has horrible magazines IMHO, otherwise both the T1x/457 will shoot very well.
Laminate stock vs wood. CZ wood is always beautiful.

I bought the T1x because it was first past the post into Canada at the time (457 came here later if I recall).
It has been put into a chassis for bench rest shooting. The Tikka barrel can be a bear to remove to change it.

I took my girlfriend to my club recently for the first time and despite being a country girl, she has never shot a gun in her life.

I put her behind the CZ457 (Canadian) with a Leupold VX Freedom 4-12 scope, CCI Mini Mags and she was able to ring the gong at 100 yards 9 out of 10 times (I only got 5 out of 10 - that's how bad I am - lost to a beginner). She loved the 457 feel, weight, handling and she said the bolt ran super smooth. Her brother (a hunter) now has one!

I looked at the cz 457 with a thin barrel with the plastic stock at Cabelas and i was surprised it shares the same stock as a varmint barrelled stock .I just did not care for that big gap around the thin barrel in a varmint stock .
The tikka has a medium size barrel ,not thin and not heavy in the plastic stock but the end of the forarm was touching one side of the barrel so it was not free floating . Is it hit and miss or are they all like that .

Receiver must be slightly cocked in that stock, I've never heard any complaints ref the barrel touching the stock..
That said, it is an insert that comes out with 1 screw. It's the same stock as a T3x.

Yes i know they touch at the beginning ,but the tikka they had on display . the nose of the stock was touching the barrel on one side . I guess they grabbed a dud for their display gun ...

Whats wrong with the tikka magazine

I experience problem myself with tikka magazine, i have often a bullet standing up in the mag while operating the bolt, jamming the process, and i found the mag too big. Never ad any prob with the little cz one. IMG_1748.jpeg

I have the CZ in 452 Varmint .22 and 17 HMR , will never sell either , and I love Tikka but never tried the .22 . In my opinion, you can go wrong with either .
