Interesting vid. Like some comments at the vid say, it would be informative to also see what the factory 20" MTR barrel would do. That would be the baseline for a 'proper and more valid evaluation'. Good link..thanks!
Honestly, testing without any flags you are letting the wind win in these tests. Rimfire rounds move more than you think with the slightest change. Regardless though it is a good watch.
The takeaway for me is you are only as good as the rimfire ammo you use. If you start with a good action, quality barrel and set up, the best you can do is what the ammo can give you.
I would definitely add a tuner to the mix, as I have been very happy with what it can do... not on every set up but when it helps, it really helps. It has helped me make some marginal lots of good quality match ammo into great shooting ammo.
I appreciate that Josh doesn't edit out the shooting ... even with some super good ammo, having some pretty big outs happens with 'bad' lots. So when testing, count every shot (watch the winds)... don't be selective in how you measure your groups. There are types and lots of ammo, the rifle simply will not like. Don't worry about it. Just shoot what the rifle prefers.. and hopefully, it will not be the most expensive option
note... a bad lot in one rifle doesn't mean it is a bad lot in all rifles.
