One of these just showed up at my LGS and after looking it over I had to ask myself why would anyone choose a stainless barrel over the standard factory BobOx/Nitride finished barrels?
I have owned and fielded a total of three 457's now and the nitride finish on both the bore and surface of the barrel and action is amazingly tough and wear/weather resistant. In the case of nitrided steel vs bare Stainless I'd choose the nitride finish every time.
Always nice to have options I suppose but this one has me scratching my head.

My 455 stainless is one of my favorite guns. It looks great and shoots even better. It can do under an inch at 100 yards which is excellent for a stock rimfire in my books.

Are the 457 'stainless' true stainless, or stainless colored nitride? I haven't held one, thought from pics they were just a diff color of nitride.

Action is Nitrided steel and the barrel is some type of ordnance grade SS I believe. Only thing I'm unsure of is the bolt.

I know my T1X bolt is stainless, now Tikka just needs to go SS on the action and barrel and finish the job!

Thank you Sir, good to know.

I saw the 457 with stainless barrel. The stainless barrel looks exactly like my 455 stainless, same matte finish. I suspect the 457 model with stainless barrel is just the standard 457 blued receiver fitted with older barrels made specifically for the 455 stainless models. This is sort of a transitional model. I hope CZ is coming up with fully stainless 457 model. I love my stainless 455.

I got a 452 style and its my favorite rimfire, so when the 455 came out I bought the first 455 ss with green speckled black stock I could find and sure like it, have the 455 cad one too but prefer the shiney ones, some just look fancier in stainless

I haven't handles these 457s though, the kinda look funny but also scared one might come home with me.

OP - you should grab it just to be a little different.

I have an in-the-box (old blue and white box) stainless (more accurately, Nitrided?) 452-2E ZKM American with beautiful Tiger-striped wood (Walnut?) stock in .22WMR.

I've seen 'stainless' CZ .22's before, but only with synthetic stock (Style). Has anyone ever seen a wood-stocked stainless CZ .22??

I've got one of the SS/Lux models and there are a few left on Vendor's websites. I haven't seen mention of them on US forums so maybe not as popular down there. I like the contrast of the black bolt in SS receiver and the wood seems to stand out better than with black barrel.
Wearing just a Covenant-4 in 6-24x50 FFP-SF on CZ 0*MOA rail with Vortex Low rings, about 1/4" clearance of scope to barrel and same for the bolt handle/scope.
