CZ 512, Must Get!

Ross B,

I have a Tyrol Model 5022 bolt action that I grew up with and I have seen a similar rifle only once before. In fact, I have never seen another Tyrol other than those two until your thread and almost nobody that I ever spoke to about the rifle, has ever heard of the Tyrol make.

Mine is such a great little gun that I am surprised that they are not more common. Do you know if there is any connection between Tyrol and Voere, both being Austrian.

How do you find the Tyrol semi?

If memory serves me correctly, there was some connection between them, Tyrol being the predecessor to Voere, something like that. The semi I had was a great little rifle, accurate, reliable, well made. The 5522 can also be fired as a single shot by pushing the charging handle down when the bolt is closed. The receiver had two bedding points.

I'm happy to see CZ back in the semi 22 market but i'd much rather find an older used CZ semi as this one is a bit too "euro" for me. That said I've had no success finding a 511 so far which to me indicates that CZ semis are not something that one parts with too easily once you have one. Truthfully though I think the new CZ 455 is an even more interesting rimfire: bolt action, adjustable trigger, interchangeable barrels so it can be converted between 22lr, 22mag and 17 HMR. All the advantages of a Sako quad but in a more affordable package!!!! I would like a CZ semi but will probably wait for the 455 to comeout in the Lux and FS versions before I but a new rimfire.

if the 511 is still available-grab one-I've been shooting one for almost 20 years-and I love it-wish I had bought 611 .22 WMR to join my HK300 !

I have searched around for this, but with no luck. I've been planning to purchase a 22 for a while and have looked pretty much all across the board. I was really set on a 10/22 at first, but the issue of consistency became to much of a factor, and I don't really want to have to spend a few hundred on a new rifle to make it shoot the way I want it too. I was pretty much settled on a 452 American or Varmint. A LOT of great reviews, everyone that has one seems to love it, then I saw the 512 and that set me back into thinking mode, are semi's really that much more fun :ar15:
