CZ 512 Tactical .22 LR

I bought the basic 512 with the pretty wood. Accurate but it does like a break in period(300 rounds) it hates the reduced loads,CCi or SK ,jams or becomes a bolt action. Before you take it apart for the first time, I recommend you “ You Tube “ it see the little tricks. Mine likes CCi sv or SK pistol match

I did some shuffling a few days after I posted this topic and did acquire a new CZ 512 Tactical in .22lr. I'm very satisfied my choice of this rifle. The trigger is very nice out of the box, it has zero trigger take-up, there is a bit of creep then breaks clean at 2lbs 11oz. With the AimPoint red dot and the muzzle brake mounted my rifle weighs 7lbs 5oz's.
The upper receiver is aluminum, the lower receiver is polymer. The complete handguard, top picatinny rail and stock tube are aluminum as well. The stock has 6 position adjustability along with an adjustable cheek riser. Barrel length is 16.5", true barrel, no sleeve.
The rifle comes with 1 25 round magazine, the additional mag was 45.00. Mags are easy to load right up to the 25th round.
Disassembly is pretty easy IMO, the rifle is pretty modular actually. I disassembled it prior to use and lubed it up, there was no factory lube.
I put my AimPoint CompM2 on it along with an AR muzzle brake I had laying around.
CCI SV 40gr ammo cycles quite well and is quite accurate, I did have some Win 555 bulk ammo and found my CZ doesn't care for lose tipped ammo.
In the future I will work over the hammer and eliminate some of the creep. I will post more pictures the next time I do a detailed cleaning.
*Edit* I have re-arched the trigger spring and brought the trigger pull down to 2lbs 6oz's.
CZ must have made some changes along the way specially in the trigger group and recoil system. My model only has one recoil spring, the manual shows 2, the actual trigger and hammer are a different shape/style compared to the ones in the parts break down in the manual as well.
The only con I have at this point about these rifles is the high price, they run $799.00-$899.00 CDN, never thought I would have that much tied up in a dam .22

The target below was shot at from 40 yards off the bench, front rest under handguard and stock off my shoulder, ammo was CCI 40 gr SV. 25 rounds double taps and rapid firing. I might scope it up sometime and try out for the " My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day, Prove It" challenge. My red dot has a 4 MOA dot and that wont cut it for 1/2" groups for me lol.

I'm not surprised at the accuracy - I have a CZ455 and it's also fantastic.
What do you think about the takedown?
I was super close to buying a CZ512 Tactical (it could even share mags with my 455) but having to remove any long optics and take out multiple screws for basic cleaning was a no-go for me.

Take down isn't bad at all in my mind but then again I don't mind tinkering with anything lol. 5 screws must be removed, 3 other screws can just be loosened halfway then you simply push a pin out then slide the upper forward and off the lower receiver. The barrel can be easily removed from the upper receiver by removing 2 screws but there's really no need to take the barrel off the receiver unless there is a huge pile of crud crammed in around the receiver and barrel chamber.
If you want to go further and remove the trigger module from the lower receiver you simply remove 1 screw that holds the stock assembly on, remove the stock assembly then slide out the trigger module from the lower receiver.
The earlier 512 versions used a double recoil spring set up and I read that they could be a pain in the azz to reassemble, my model has only one recoil spring.

I love my CZ and BRNO bolt guns...even looking at a CZ527 Varmint right now (17 Hornet)..but boy, I can't warm-up to the idea of the 512s at any price. However, I had no idea they shot that well, nor had I ever read a good description of them....so who knows? 
I appreciate you posting about your rifle, and I hope you continue to. If it shoots that well with a red dot, I'd be very curious about what's possible with a decent scope. Trigger pull weight seems very good/light for a semi.

.22LRGUY, I'm waiting to hear back about price and availability on spare hammers for the late model 512's. I want to work over a hammer to reduce some creep and maybe bring the pull down to a safe and reliable 2lbs. I am now at 2lbs 6oz's.

MET...that's a nice looking rifle but the dangling donkey mags ruin it for me. Too bad the CZ couldn't design their mags to look like the Black Dogs....
Yours seems to shoot VG and I'm surprised it cycled standard velocity ammo without issue.

I like the look of that - but where is it available in Canada...? Looks nicer than the timbered version and there is something about the tactical that doesn't seem quite right (apart from the curly, skinny mag and the...price) but as you say, this offers easier disassembly and sem-tac look.

This has also been concerning me and holding me back from the 512 Tactical.
To the OP and other owners of the Tactical, do you have to re-zero every time after disassembly?
I go to the range with many guns and don't have time to re-zero each time after cleaning.
