I am wanting a CZ 527 Carbine BADLY. It has everything I like...irons to back up my scope, detachable box mags, nice looks. My only issue is picking the cal I want...either .223Rem OR 7.62x39. Both have pros and cons...the issue I have with the 7.62x39 that is the cheap ammo is corrosive and I know its easy to clean its just not something I like and want to be shooting in a expensive (to me) gun. With the .223Rem its too underpowered for deer and other "big" game.

Thoughts? UTAF

my buddy bought one in 7.62x39 and loves it, ammo is cheap as dirt can shoot it all day long for next to nothing and can buy real hunting ammo when you want to take it dear hunting. I would buy it in 7.62 before .223 if I were buying... he claims the bulk ammo is plenty accurate enough for him

better buy it in 223 and then if you want something cheap get sks with chrome lined barrel to mess around cheap 7,62.
7,62 is enough to drop a deer but that's about it for big game and you cant use it around here for that anyway or anything else for that matter... 223 you get rifle for coyote and other small game.
my opinion.

nice rifle btw

id been planning to build up a bolt action rifle in 7.62x39mm, but after discussing it with mysticplayer im convinced that the surplus 7.62x39mm ammo is a major limiting factor in accuracy, regardless of the rifle you are shooting it out of.
...and if you are going to reload, then there are better cartridges to reload for.

id stick with the .223.

as for the deer question:

Sounds like you need two rifles. Get the .223 and find something else for big game later. Or with fall coming, choose your big game rifle now and come back to the cz when funds allow.
I know that when you start out it makes sense to try and have utilitarian calibres, but it never works out that well.
It sounds to me like you have a niche that needs filling and a gun that you like, the trouble is I don't think the two go together very well.
