CZ 527 owners - how fast does the barrel heat up?

I have blown my gun budget for the foreseeable future on lever actions. But as always, still looking at other stuff. :dancingbanana:

Love the look of the CZ 527 full-stock. Even with the full-length wood they are apparently tack-drivers. Curious though, with a gun that light, how fast would .223 heat up the barrel? Not looking to just crank rounds out as fast as possible for hours on end (couldn't afford that :p ) but curious if it's a gun that you shoot 5 rounds, let it cool for several minutes, then shoot 5 more and repeat or something that you could enjoy shooting out on crown land without having to worry about it getting too hot and damaging the barrel?

Thanks :)

Mine is a .204. It heats up pretty quick. Great little rifle for hunting, pleasure to carry, but doesn't spend much time at the bench.

Any FS gun is a "hunter"... not a bench gun. When I shoot mine at the range it will be one of several rifles tabled... after the scope is zeroed, I will fire paced, three round groups paying particular attention to the FIRST shot's POI... between groups I move on to other guns... I want to know what my Hunters do with the first bullet from a cold barrel.

While it is a hunter-type gun, I just love full stock rifles and have a .22 one I love to plink with. The FS barrel is almost guaranteed the same contour as the carbine model, just the design of the stock.

I seem to get conflicting answers from "let it cool a lot after a magazine or risk throat erosion" to "fire away"

Mine gets hotter faster then my axis does. I shoot a group of 5 then let it cool. I don't want to risk wrecking anything. With my axis I have shot it 10-15 rounds and still shot pretty well. Was very hot though. Its a junker rifle though so doesn't really matter if it gets eroded.
