CZ 527 Thought?

Hi I'm considering different rifles but got my eyes on the CZ 527 the one with the (almost) 26" long barrel.
What do you guys think of this rifle?
I'm not too sure about the single set trigger if I'd like it.

Trigger, weight, Precision and all that good stuff...
 
Have the varmint version.

Id love to get the barrel cut down to 22" or something like that.

Otherwise spectacular rifle. Only ever shot American eagle FMJ rounds.... Use a vortex scope and a special CZ Pic rail. The gun is so accurate and consistent its actually boring to shoot.
 
The trigger can be adjusted down to a pretty low weight in the un-set mode. I don't use the set mode on mine because of the amount of overtravel when the trigger is set. Think of it as a good adjustable trigger with a set feature that you can use or not per your preference.
 
I have 2 of them a Carbine in 7.62x39 and a Varmint Kevlar in .223. I love them both, great accuaracy and I really like the set triggers.

Is that a rifle mounted on that scope ?
 
I can't fault the varmint with the 26" barrel, everything is good. When set the trigger on mine breaks at 13 ounces, and 3 1/2 lbs without setting it. It is adjustable but I have not touched it, for me it's perfect as it is. As far as accuracy is concerned, the only rifle I have that compete with it is my Swiss K31.

I don't want to hijack the thread but may I ask you :

- What variety of Leupold scope you have on your rifle (looks like a VX-II 3-9x33mm RIMFIRE EFR) ?

- What is the clearance between the eyepiece and the bolt handle (yes, always the same concern) ?

- What scope mounts (make and height) ?

The scope is a Leupold VX3 6.5 -20 with a 40mm objective lens. Clearance of the bolt handle is fine, about 1/4". Warne medium height CZ 527 rings. :)

One thing I like on Leupold scopes is the size of the eyepiece.
Its smaller than most other brands which gives room for bolt handle without having to put sky high scope rings.

For this reason, I think a leupold scope is a wise choice on a CZ, which is known to have very tight bolt handle clearance.

The worst scope you can mount on a CZ is probably a Nikon scope.
The eyepiece is really too big.

I heard the Dlask CZ527 bolt handle is supposed to give an extra 1/8 to 3/16 clearance.

The scope cost as much as the rifle, I wanted a top notch rig, so I had to pay for it. The low Canadian dollar did not help matters. I'm pleased I have it, it's super accurate. I will keep it till the day I snuff it.
 
I have a .17Hornet in a Varmint model and a .223 in the American flavor. I love the set triggers on these. On the bench I set the trigger, in the field I tend not to, unless lining up a gopher that's WAY out there.

I've got Leupold rings on the .17 with a Nikon Prostaff5 3.5-14x50. The .223 came CZ rings, so I just used those with a Leupold VX-1 3-9x50. Both are tight fitting, but have at least an 1/8" of bolt / eyepiece clearance.

Oh yeah, both are slathered in CZ sauce... that is to say, they both shoot great! Especially that .17, on a calm day it's a hair over 1/2moa at 200y.

Old thread but man is that a handsome rifle. If you ever want to part with it, let me know.
