I'm curious if anyone here has any opinions on the quality / accuracy of a CZ 550 fs? I've just recently acquired one and have yet to have the opportunity to shoot it. It's a 308 win and I'm also open to bullet recommendations for this gun for moose.

CZ 550s are quality rifles and full stock CZs are super classy. I'm jealous, post pics!

As for bullets I'm partial to Accubonds, but at .308 velocities there are a number of choices, premium and non-premium, that are appropriate.

Edit: if it's brand new spend a hour in front of the TV cycling the action. They really smooth out with a few hundred cycles.

I have several 550's... my son is a CZ fan... one is an FS in .308 and is a nice rifle and quite accurate, although he prefers his 550 Lux in 7X64 Brenneke. My two beefs with the current 550's is how blocky and "2X4-like" the grip area is... I have large hands and still find it unwieldy, someone with small hands is bound to dislike it a great deal... and also the PLASTIC bottom metal... I changed two of them to steel, but have two more to do, but IMO they should have come from the factory with steel floorplate and trigger guard.

I have one in 6.5X55 and it's very accurate with 130 Accubonds. I concur with Hoytcanon on his critiques

I am yet to upgrade mine, but I agree with you 100%.

I have the CZ-550FS in .308 and I love it. No complaints at all. The single set trigger is so light, it's a bit unnerving. I think I'll adjust it a bit. I just put a scope on it with Warne QD rings.
I am waiting for a CZ-527FS in .223 from Wolverine. It just shipped so I should see it in a week or so. I have the same rings for it and just need a scope. I like the QD rings so I can use the irons as needed.
I have not hunted with the .308 so I can't make any recommendations there.

I can't remember hearing anyone say that they were disappointed in a CZ-550FS. I'm sure it has happened, but very rarely.

I also own a CZ550 FS in 9.3x62. Honestly it's the most accurate rifle I load for. Love the balance and feels great strolling through the bush in northern BC. No complaints whatsoever.

I have a decent amount of rifles and load for most of them but in a hunting rifle the CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62 is the most accurate of all hands down in my gun room, i also agree with Hoyt about the plastic bottom as i prefer my firearms to be made of only wood and steel.

The funniest thing about CZ firearms is seeing someone using weaver style cross slot rings on them and wondering why they can't zero the scope.

I love my CZ 550 LUX. It wasn't smooth at all when I bought it but just over time of me using it, it has broken in and is very smooth. The gun is also very accurate without a scope.

Steel bottom metal? I thought all CZ550's have this. My 550 Exclusive Ebony Edition does.

My CZ-550FS in .308 has magazines. I did not know about the plastic floor plates on the others. My 527FS is at the post office. (Also uses magazines) Not ready for pick up until tomorrow. Sigh.

I agree. I have fairly big hands and still found my CZ fullstock 9.3x62 to be too bulky. It was not a very lively rifle. I sold it.
