Dumped the 550 .375 H&H into a Bell Carlson stock. Nice accurate rig but besides the heavy part (I can deal with) the rifle is a bit unwieldy in the alders with that long tube... I want to retain a front sight, maybe thread it for a brake for range use and cut it down to 21-22". Anyone know of a good smith in the Okanagan? How about a good/best brake? I don't want to use the stanby's in Kelowna, see there is a fellow out of Naramata but don't know anyone who's used him...

Any downside to this mod besides ruined resale, that I don't care about and the slight velocity scrub? Was talking myself into a new rifle but maybe do this instead to tune up an existing one..
