I'm thinking about adding a target rifle to the big steel box in the basement.

Please let me know what everyone thinks of this one.

It comes .308 and 22-250... I really want the .308

I've looked at:
CZ 550 Varmint Laminated ROT 12"
Ruger M77MarII target grey ROT 10"
Sako 75 Varmint (big$$) ROT 11"
Savage 12 Varmint ROT 10"
Reminton 700 VLS ROT12"

They all look good
Rate of twist is a question. they all differ
I guess I would start off using 165grain target rounds

Thanks

With 150, 155, and 165 bullets the 1-12 twist will work fine. It may or may not work well with the heavier bullets, I've seen it go both ways. generally speaking (and remember, there are always exceptions to the rule), faster twist for heavier bullets. 1-12 was a Palma standard for a long time, and those boys do alright. 700's have more aftermarket accessories available then the other brands, with Savage coming in second on that point. I would probably go with the Savage (most gun for the money), although if I had the bread, a Sako 75 in 6 PPC is the single most accurate factory rifle I have ever shot. FWIW - dan

There is one for sale at Wholesale Sports in Edmonton..Never heard one complaint about any CZ and it looks & feels nice!!

Will be just fine, as a 1-13 works very well with 168 match , had no idea 165 gr tgt bullets were available.
Your list is short, got some fine rifles there. If you want the best, re barrel a 700 action. :D

They're all very good. I've been meaning on trying a CZ one day - everyone seems to rave about them; and I love the 'target gray' finish on the Ruger.

The Sako is a very very good rifle, and the 700 is a tried and true gun.

The Savage probably offers the greatest bang for your buck of all the guns on your list.
