I picked up my CZ 557 Lux from Western Canada most customer helpful store ''Prophet River''

The gun is very nice ,short 20 inch barrel ,beautiful walnut ,palm swell and of course sights

This rifle differs from the great 550 ,but I like it a tad more ,the bolt is sweet trigger is adjustable ,The only draw back is removing the bolt you need a shell case or something to depress down to release it ,,,,,,???

I am totally pleased priced right and a lot of gun

I recommend this rifle to anyone who is in the market for a nice rifle quick handling and well made

thanks

Ken

Can you give some more details on this rifle? I've only ever seen them in stock pictures so I'm interested in seeing more pictures as well.
Does it have a mauser action in it like the 550?

Adjustable triggers are nice. Adjustable hare and regular triggers are even nicer ;)

The 557 is a push-feed modified Mauser action. The 550 is a control-feed modified Mauser action. Where the true Mauser cocks itself from opening the bolt, the 550 and 557 de-#### itself from opening the bolt and cocks itself from closing the bolt. The CZ 527 rifles are true to the Mauser action but are down sided to be a micro Mauser action.

That's interesting! I didn't know that they #### on close.. I'll have to look at my buddy's again the next time I'm over at his house.
My next rifle will probably be a CZ because they're just so damn beautiful and shoot so well.
How would you compare the #### on open to the #### on close for speed of cycling? My Ruger is a #### on open and it requires a bit of effort but I feel like it's easier to yank upward quicker than pushing down quicker.

Does it have a single set trigger??

The 557 doesn't have a hare trigger. Most people (Americans) didn't know the 550 has a hare trigger and therefore CZ decided to do away with the hare trigger on the 557 line up. Do not worry as CZ doesn't intend on getting rid of the 550 line up as they did with the 452 line up when they replaced them with the 455.

As much as I really like my CZ 550 LUX Euro, the bolt is quite stiff to open and close although it does seem to open easier than it closes. My 550 still has less than 100 rounds though it and I've been told that the bolt will smooth out with age. My CZ 550's bolt currently is not even close to as smooth as my old Krico 600 FS was.

Is 557 generally available or it was a special order? How much does it go for and what is wait time to get one?

Spring is when CZ does there shipments to Canada. If you see it for sale, grab it, put it on layaway, bum money off people walking into the store so you can buy it because you won't see more until next spring.

The Sporter model , or the American type or style is readily available ,it has no sights ,Beechwood stock but looks very nice @ $850

I wanted the Lux it took 5-6 weeks and costs $1000

I have no affiliation with Prophet River ,I can tell you they were always up front, honest ,Worked tremendously hard to locate the rifles I want .I also can tell you that good gun stores in Alberta or Saskatchewan are as scarce as a Saskatchewan Snow Plow or a Paving Machine.
