CZ 75 B Omega trigger became extremely heavy in double action

I was practicing double-action dry fire. Getting used to firing that first shot so I don't throw it wide in IDPA, and suddenly the trigger weight changed. It got extremely heavy, and difficult to break. I can get it to half-#### with some effort, but breaking feels like 15 lbs minimum. And hell with using my finger tip, I have to go right to the first knuckle joint just to get leverage.

Field strip, cleaned and oiled, but still feels the same. I have a wolf hammer spring, so it's already a lighter pull. I tried swapping back to factory but surprise that's even heavier. During stripping though, I noticed when I let off some of the tension on the hammer spring, the pull feels normal. Is it possible some spring's popped out of position somewhere, or the trigger bar isn't operating DA properly? I have no idea what's going on.

It is possible the trigger rest spring or sear spring has failed.

Do a detailed strip and check all fire control components.

Reset spring is fine, but I'm super chicken **** about taking the sear apart. I'll have to find some youtube videos and study up before I attempt. The trigger bar spring also seems fine.

If the Omega setup is anything like my own regular action then it could be any number of things. There's simply no way to suggest this or that since the DA setup incorporates so many parts. On my regular action there's even a ramp in the frame that the DA release shoe runs on. All I can tell you is that in DA mode the regular hammer hook and trigger sear are not used. The hammer breaks before that so start by checking everything from the trigger on back.

If you don't know what to look for and the usual you tube videos can't help you with analyzing and finding the issue then you're looking at a trip to the gunsmith. But either way you're looking at a detail strip down.

Start with removing the mainspring plug and run the hammer only on thumb pressure. That'll get rid of at least one part and let you analyze things a little more easily. Plus it avoids you slamming the hammer into the frame repeatedly. And provided you can also play the part of the slide and disconnector notch on the trigger bow heel that sticks up to perform the disconnect function you can also analyse the travel when the slide and barrel are out of the way.

Because this all happened suddenly it suggests a broken or misplaced part. So be sensitive to things not moving like they seem they should. Also look for any bits that come out. It could also be a trapped piece of whatever that has gotten lodged in the works. So look for that if you haven't cleaned it away already.

If you go with a total strip down be aware that if the Omega safety is anything like the regular one that there is one small spring and catch plate that can really ruin your day. It can be a PITA but taking this portion apart inside a clear laundry bag or similar is not a bad idea at all. That way these and other teeny tiny parts can't escape too easily.

Sorry - no experience with the "new & improved" Omega trigger.
But you have to love it when a manufacturer decides to change a proven system like the 75B.

The Omega has a reworked trigger group with fewer parts, and an improved pull. At least that's what the marketing materials say. It's the same trigger found in the P-07, and the thing works. Or worked. I dunno.

So I gave up and took it to a smith. He used an airgun and blew out a bunch of crap from the gun, mostly the 50 gallons of oil I'd sprayed into it in the vain effort to make it unstick. That didn't work, so he took it apart, found the it was rubbing too much against the safety bar and polished the contact points. Seems to work now.

It was really strange. After tinkering I'd managed to get the gun down to it being an intermittent problem. You could do like 5 DA pulls and it'd go click click click click click just fine, then on the 6th, it would get to half #### and seize. Pull really hard, and the trigger breaks and goes fully rearward, but the hammer wouldn't fall. Release, click.

Anyway the gun is working now, many thanks to GunCo for taking a look at it so quickly!
