Can anyone tell me if the siver finish CZ puts on their guns (shadow) is as durable as the black?
I am going to purchase a CZ 75 SP-01 shadow canadian edition.
If it is as durable I would buy the silver.

Thanks ahead of time,

Paul

It is not silver finish. I believe they call it Satin Nickel. I do not have the CZ 75 SP-01 shadow Canadian edition but it might be the same Satin Nickel finish as their other pistols. I have a CZ 85 Combat, about 2 yrs old, and so far, the finish is still excellent. I am still waiting take my Black Badge so I cannot say how the finish will hold against a holster. Most manufacturers use the same finish in variety of their firearms. CZ pistols comes in either Stainless Steel, Polycoated, Satin Nickel, 2-tone Satin Nickel/Polycoat or satin Nickel/Blued. I've seen few older pistols blued.

The Standard finish is a Painted on coating that is actually not all that durable IMHO. Chipping and scratching is pretty typical ofna well used CZ.

The Nickel is definitely much tuffer and I believe CZ advertises it as such.

If its the same finish on the CZ Tactical Sport, mine seems plenty tuff. Lots of draws and dry fires for practice and no marks. Gets dirty from powder but cleans up nice.

Cheers

i havint had any issues with the finish on my canadian shadow (using a ghost stinger holster)

ive been doing multiple drills from the holster for the past 2 weeks and still looks like new.

It is definitely a silver polycoat finish and not satin nickel. I have a 85 combat in satin nickel and it is true that it is the most durable finish in the CZ line. I've heard this many times on the CZ forum. The black polycoat is more durable than the silver apparently but this from first hand experience of other owners who have purchased CZ pistols with the silver polycoat.
