Hi, I just purchased a new CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow and while I was cleaning it for the first time I noticed a reddish color inside the frame in the dust cover area. Some of it came off on the patches while I was cleaning it with CLP, but it's still visible in some corners and along some edges.

Is this normal? My first reaction was s#*t is this rust? This is my first CZ pistol, so hopefully some more experienced CZ owners will be able to help me out.

Thanks!

could be.

My CZ75 SP01 Shadowline didn't have any reddish coloring.

Though i know glock uses some kind of perservative that is brown/gold in color

Thanks for the input guys!

Here are a few pictures I just took that show the reddish color inside the frame:

Same here... Nothing to worry. I have it like that for the last 2 years. A friend of mine used steel wool to clean it. I don't want to touch it as I think it might be a protective coating. And use some 4-6 gr in total silica gels inside the hard case.

If you just got it, I'd return it... Get them to send you a new one. If returning is not an option, then follow the advice in this thread on how to clean it.

I've seen this on many CZ75s including brand new ones. Mechanically it's nothing to worry about. Keep it clean and lubed, I bet you won't see any change to worse after 20,000 rounds. ;)

Had a little of what I assume is red rail grease in mine too, still do occasionally, but I'm sure it's not rust...

I had that coloring on mine when I first got it. I checked it out after my last outing, the red is long gone. I clean it after every outing though.
