Hello, im looking at getting my first pistol, I was looking at the CZs, but I am rather torn on which to get. What would you recommend overall for durability and accuracy? The SPO-1 I believe is the shadow? Anyone able to clarify on that as well? Thank you.

The SP-01 is similar to the Shadow, but they are not identical. the Shadow has a number of internal and external changes to the basic SP-01 to make it a better competition platform (fibre optic sight, different safety, no firing pin block to name a few - do some searching and you'll see).

I think both would be an excellent pistol. they hold their value well, they're solid, accurate, reliable and make for easy shooting. the full-steel construction soaks up 9mm recoil very well. There's a reason so many IPSC shooters use the CZ-75. You can't lose, in my opinion.

As for any firearm, though, you need to actually go and hold one before you make up your mind. Good luck, and hopefully you settle on something you like.

(I should add that I own an SP-01 and i've been extremely pleased with it.)

I had a 75B satin nickel and it was a real beauti, I am more into the traditional look of the CZ 75 than the newer look of SP-01. Shadow to be the best of the SP-01 line. Having said that, there are quite a few Shadow up for sale in the EE and I was wonder it might not everyone's cup of tea. Both CZ 75B or shadow will be the best pick at the price range. Good choice of gun.

If you have some serious thoughts on getting into IPSC then the Shadow would be an excellent choice for Production class. If this is your first center fire handgun and you don't really know what you'll be doing for a couple of years with it and money is a shade tight then by all means go for the plain jane 75b. It can still be used in IPSC very effectively but likely you will want or need to spend a hair more money on it later on to really tune it for the competition scene.... Or you may choose to use it in bone stock condition to enter IPSC and IDPA matches where it'll be just fine if not totally optimized for PURE competition.

But either way you'll have a great handling gun that shoot really nicely.

I'm a new PAL/RPAL holder and bought a Shadow, love this gun it makes me a better shooter very accurate and well built. It is a tonne of fun to shoot too. I did a tonne of research and decided on this gun over others, my thinking was I didn't want to have buy one and then later buy this one later because it was better.

The frame shape is slightly different on the SP-01 line then the 75b line; I like the fit of the SP-01 better (I have a Shadow). I shooting buddy has a 75b and another had a Shadow; I tired both and went with the Shadow. That being siad, I already had a Beretta 92 and I did not find enough difference between it and the 75b to justify buying it, but the 75b is still a really nice gun to start with.

If you get the Shadow and in the future you decide to get a .22cal then you can just get the Kadet converion kit. Some may disagree to conversions, unless you want a completely different model, but I say this... 1 registered restricted 2 different calibers. ALSO, you stick to one frame size and trigger action and master that trigger action.

Not sure if the Kadet will fit the 75B, never looked into it becuase I own a Shadow.

Last thing, IMO, if the cost difference is marginal get the Shadow... from what I've seen in the exchange forum and if priced right all the Shadows I've see go up for sale sells very quick.

If there is a range nearby or a shooting center go see if you can borrow one before you buy. I know in my area I have Target Sports Center where you can rent virtually any gun to try at their range.
I bought a shadow and liked it for a bit then went back to my SIG 226. Shadows are great guns but not for everyone.
