Hi

Just getting back into shooting after a few years absence.

This morning at the range I put about 140 rounds through my CZ85 when the trigger started giving me problems.

The trigger failed to reset, then functioned OK for another 15 or so rounds. Then function went rapidly downhill, finally failing to reset on every shot. Pulling the slide back half an inch or so and releasing it allowed it to reset.

The loads were not especially dirty. The gun was spotless when I started. It hadn't been fired in about seven years but had been (lovingly) cleaned and lubed at least yearly.

The gun has a single-action competition trigger in it, and functioned flawlessly (not a burp in several thousand rounds) before it was put away.

I'm presuming either dirt or a problem with the trigger spring (either broken or somehow slipped out of place). It'll be a couple of days before I have time to pull it apart. Any other ideas?

Thanks

cz trigger 85 -sa

Sounds like you have the typical "broken trigger" for this 85 SA model , I'm on my second one. The CZ 85 -SA used an original plastic trigger and the small pivot hole cracks open. The new replacement one is made of alloy and much stronger. When you replace it you will find the new alloy trigger requires a little "smithing" in order to work freely and correctly. They are about $35 cdn to buy.

Actually mine has an aftermarket trigger. I bought it years ago and can't remember the brand. My first one was a Tangfolio, which never worked right. This one was made by either World Class Pistols or CP Bullets, if memory serves. It's a pretty solid metal trigger.

I got it from either Denny's Shooter Supplies or Brownell's. As I recall it was around $40-50 US.
