After getting back from the range today I looked at the inside of my barrel with a bore light.

I noticed a slight swell against the inside of the barrel about 3 inches from the muzzle. The swell is about 4mm long and encompasses the circumferance of the inside of the barrel but is not noticable from the outside of the barrel.

The questions I have are.

1. Will this swell have a great effect on my accuracy?

2. How hard is it to change a barrel on a CZ 858?

Any ideas you guys might have would be greatly appreciated.

Shoot it and find out...

I would guess if there's good rifling at the muzzle it should be fine. Maybe you could make a new barrel from an old Lee Enfield if need be?

the barrels are pressed in probably have a pin too IF you can find a new barrrel.....

remove pin, strip rifle

go to some of the ak47 fourms on the net guys have come up with some interesting homemade tools to remove pressed in barrels

Are you sure you are not seeing the gas hole? With a bore light, it looks like it goes all the way around. One way to find out for sure is to disassemble the gas system and stick a fine wire down through the hole and into the bore, then look down the bore again with the bore light.

Thanks again I'll check it out.

Hopefully thats all it is. It made me sick to see that. I was so afraid I hurt the barrel.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Please do keep us posted. I am more than certain that is what you see since the only other thing I can think of is that you had a squib load lodged in the barrel and shot it out with the next round. You would have noticed that! :D
