cz 858 barrels

sorry, i'm a tard but i pulled this off a review for the AR-180B, hopefully it sheds about as much light on what you want as a nightlight.

"The 1:9" twist barrel is an unlined lightweight unit made of 4140 chrome-moly steel. The lack of a chrome lining duplicates the specifications of the original AR-180 and is not nearly the critical flaw it is described to be by AR-15 purists. While a chrome lining makes for easier cleaning to an extent, and provides resistance to the erosive effects of full automatic fire, it also makes for a rifle that, all other things being equal, will be less accurate than one with an unlined barrel. ArmaLite has conducted extensive testing and reports no failures stemming from unlined barrels or chambers, even when using eastern European or Russian ammunition having lacquered steel cases. "

Barrel life for a crome molly barrel is about 5,000 to 6,000 rounds. The faster you shoot, ie extended rapid fire stints, the more throat erosion and less barrel life. Was that your question?

It depends on the steel and ammo. 5.45 AK-74 barrels were never written off in Soviet Army as it was impossible to ruin one - chromed, good steel and light pressure ammo. Mossin-Nagant rifle in many cases had thousands of rounds but still they shoot accurately (excellent metal). So it all depends on quality of barrel and what kind, type and mark of steel they use, which I don't know.
