CZ 858 - Bent trigger mech

Well after almost a case of surplus I finally had a malfunction. After about a dozen rounds the gun fired but something felt wrong with the cycle. That and the carrier was back about 2 inches.

What had basically happened was the little metal link(called the "disconnector" on the czechpoint usa site) that comes off the trigger fell off and jammed the carrier. It looks like the little pin that held it in just slid to the right(looking from the back of the gun to the front) and the spring pushed link up and into the way of the cycle.

I did a full tear down and there was no other real damage other than the link being bent over at about a 45 degree angle.

So I'm wondering if it is safe to just straighten it and put it back and action. I'm thinking I should probably just buy a parts kit from Wolverine anyways but in the mean time would it be safe? It's not like it takes a lot of heavy hitting.

The part that concerns me more is the pin holding it in. There's not much too it as far as friction holding it in. I'm thinking it just rattled out because it is so loose.

Any ideas?

the answer is NO, its not a good idea to straighten the damage disconnector and put it back into your rifle and firing it .

the parts are cheap and plentiful.

the pin that holds the disconnector should not be easy to slid out , if it does then thats a another good reason to replace the entire trigger/disconnector assembly.

Can parts be bought individually in Canada or do we have to go the full parts kit from Wolverine? BTW... anyone know what is actually in their "parts kit"? Unless I'm totally missing it, their new website doesn't specify.

Email/call Wolverine, they are really good at getting you the parts you need.

i personally feel the parts kits are great value , its like a car having more value in parts then the entire car itself .

iirc, the kit came with everything except furniture (and its attachments) , barrel and receiver.

i cannot emphasize how convenient it is for vz58 owners to have parts ready available for situation like this . great for trouble shooting too, just replace the part you think is faulty and see if it works .

With any machine there is going to be break downs due to worn out parts,broken parts or the overall quality of the machine. Firearms are no different, there is a reason for a failure. Throwing new parts at it without knowing the cause will turn around and bite you in the ass. If you are not able to find the cause get someone who can and then perform the proper repairs.

Wow, that would sure ruin a CQB day!

Ya... I do need to find out why the pin ended up so loose. And just as importantly what is supposed to hold it into the trigger when things are done right. Friction alone shouldn't be reliable enough.

I'm thinking I may have punched the pin out while cleaning one day and it went back in too loose, causing the problem myself.
