My 858 has alot of dings , scratches and wear to the black that looks so nice and its starting to look ugly. Whats the best way to go about repairing this?

What about bed liner?
Is it good against heat?

I was thinking of stripping the rifle completley of the paint and painting it with something else, matte flat black something but don't know what yet. I don't want to really spray over the stock paint cause down the road when it gets dings and scratches it woud be nice to have a little bit of metal showing instead of the old paint.

Ideas?

I saw Tim at Al Simmons shorty 8.5 or however short it was back to the gas block and he had done it up in bed liner. Very nice, smooth and looked great. Definatly will be doing my 858 in bed liner when I get it.

I've done my furniture in Bedliner, it's hard and durable and holds up well against heat. As for the receiver try Duracoat or Armacoat, but you have to beadblast it first.

Use the spray on stuff and do light coats and let them dry for several hours between.

I saw a guy on the net who did his enfield in matte black engine paint. He prepped it and sprayed it with a few coats and threw it in the oven at 350 degree's for an hour.
The finish was amazing, looked just like a parkarized coating.

Personally, this is what I'm going to do with my .58 right now, I'm just stripping the reciever and barrel right now. It won't be as tough as parkerization but it should last a while.

Anyone object to engine paint and baking it for an hour?
The results I saw were great.
