Wanna go hunting with this thing, but took it to the range to dial in but had this hung ups.

Bolt jammed with about and inch open, will not go further into closed position. I had to wack it with a wooden stick to force it to close see picture 1. Riffle is not working since.

Went home and cleaned the riffle and noticed the rails for the bolt have these banged up areas, (picture 2) and interfere with the slide of the bolt a bit.

Wondering if this is the problem. I think I saw some write up about this a while ago but could not find it now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Che

The deformed areas are where the locking block seats. Obviously the heat treat on the rails was screwed up somewhere along the line. It's FUBAR.

By chance did you have the rifle refinished?

Looks just like mine. My action won't close either. It's on it's way for assessment at the warranty centre.

Hey Stevo, yes the riffle got that finish treatment years back , but I dont remember the name of the treatment. i think it was by raunchtatical something...

So what can i do now?

Rauch had some issues with the treatment process that affected the receiver heat treat on a batch of rifles. Yours is probably the 5th or 6th I've seen. Try and contact Rauch and see if there's anything they'll do.

Other than that, I don't know if repair is an economical option.

Let me guess.... Its a CSA ?....

Since he said it's a CZ 858, I'd guess you're wrong.;)

Many people don't make difference between CSA / CZ/ 858 / Vz58 etc.

I still guess a CSA VZ58. Unless its a CZ that have been altered with some treatment

CSA's didn't exist in Canada when Rauch was doing his nitro-carburizing.

Did you read any of the OPs posts?

nope. Time is precious.

Well i got that option covered in the treatment part.

Hope it was worth the price :D

Thanks Stevo, just read about the NC treatment, sucks. Guess the riffle is dead. Not looking forwad to replacing the reciever, loved this riffle, it shot so well. Crap crap.

CSA or their parent company did exist but they only made fireworks back then, they were still under Czech ownership then

Rick

not sure it is the NC treatment that caused the problem. I remember mild deform taken place before the treatment but didnt know it is going to turn into this. And dont be a D...ck.
