Just wondering if anyone that purchased a receiver(s) from Wolverine has attempted to build on them or just bought them to be grandfathered into their prohib reclassification. Has anyone tried to use a VZ 58 kit to build one?

the problem with the vz58 is pressing in the barrel most guys don't have a press and its a PITA apparently

I have a press I would just need to make a jig to hold receiver, I have seen it done on AK videos with two lengths redi rod also. Indexing it exactly might be a pain, but if I can install and index a new garand barrel I wouldn't think it would be too much harder

I just finished mine last weekend with a semi complete parts kit that dlask sold right around the same time the receivers were being solid
All in all a fun project for my first gun build minus a few errors and tooling marks

Looks great, what length barrel is that?

Looks restricted to me?

Yes that looks great I went with the folder stock and the epoxy beaverbarf. Thought installing barrel was going to be a chore, slid in quite easily and lined up perfect. Did you have the trigger guard rivets in your kit? I had to hunt some down South got an extra set was not sure how well I would manage to peen them. I made a couple punches worked like a charm.

I got mine from down south aswell and the solid rivet that the leaf spring sits on was a pain to upset. I ended it up crushing it too much so the head diameter went from 5mm to 5.49mm and i had to open up the leaf spring just a bit to fit. Aside from that my barrel went in fine i think the hardest part was drilling the hole in the gas block and lining it up

I drilled a blind hole in a rod to hold and surround the leaf spring rivet, had one area that slightly mushroomed, I used a thin diamond file on it and took the burr off. Now that I have done one and know the tricks, a second would be pretty simple.

Gas block and front site I installed to barrel first, make sure you put the half moon piece in receiver. I thought about building a jig but tried without, using wood on the bottom against receiver, and wood on top of muzzle thread protector. Barrel left out in cold, and receiver just above wood stove to warm. I used a film of grease in receiver, my 20 ton press pushed down barrel very easy, smooth no binding. When halfway installed I pulled off press and checked indexing on barrel. turned from front site post to index. Back to press and slowly finished install looking thru barrel pin hole until it lined up perfect. I had a slightly undersized pin punch that just went thru, so I knew when I was close. Tapped in pin, checked headspace all good. My parts were a complete used kit, so if you have a new barrel then you may have to ream for setting the headspace, can only increase the head space can not decrease it unless you try other bolts. The tolerance of barrel pin do not really give you any adjustments on indexing or head spacing. Hope that helps. There are you tube videos using redi-rods, nuts, and small steel flat stock installing an AK barrel, probably could be done similarly.
