CZ 858 - First Impressions

That's the exact way I did it, the nut pops out otherwise.

I'm a constant bolt breaker, myself, and had very similar fears when I got mine. The grip was loose when I got mine, but managed to snug mine quite well. It must have been a QC issue on that lot, because I cranked the living $hit out of mine to get it tight, and it never popped like that. I know it happened during the installation of after-market parts, but can it be fixed under warranty? If not, try the store you bought it from. Nobody likes bad publicity and in this day and age, customer relations is key to the success of a dealer.
Other than that issue, I totally love mine. Don't judge the whole line of rifles by one bad one. A non-restricted AK variant clone isn't easy to come by in this common-sense forsaken country.

I emailed the dealer this morning, and called them to discuss. They have said their gunsmith will either fix it, or they will provide me with a new rifle.

So far I couldn't ask for anymore support.
 
My sympathies for what happened to your rifle. I just hand tightened my pistol grip.

That said, why does your avatar look like Richard Simmons?

I was being sarcastic based on the RCMP classification protocol. If it looks like an AK or could be mistaken for an AK (by an untrained eye), it must be an AK.
It was a joke to illustrate the irony of the prohib list.
ie.other guns have been put on the naughty list based on looks but not this one.
 
all my T nuts seat on the receiver, the trigger guard offers no suport. I am still confused on how you could only seat on the trigger guard, Have they changed the rifle in some way, I'll rip one of mine apart tonight and post pics.

I got a reply from CZ on this topic, there is nothing from them as per actual product torque specs, however they did supply spec sheet for the screws threads. There is one small problem, the chart is in German so if anyone can translate it that would help. I have attached below the reply email, as well as the chart.

"Dear Sir,
I am sorry we are not help you. In our TDP doesn't specified any torque unfortunately. If you need to know it try to look at some torque standards. For all cases I am forwarding for your attention a table (in German language) where you can find appropriate torque for mentioned screw thread ...

Well thanks for digging up the specs Workingspy, but I think in my case at least, the weak point is definitely not the threads/nut/or bolt.

I just sent it off to the vendor today, so I will find out what happens next week.
 
let us know, It's allways nice to hear about a dealer standing behind the product, let's just hope the distributer stands behind the dealer. I took back all sorts of items from customers only to be burned by the wholesaler, that said I had some wholesalers credit products that they realy didn't need to.
 
Is this a common problem with these rifles? i really don't want it to happen to mine, is it fixable(reinforce-able) or should i not worry about it?

Don't think so. Im the only one who's had this problem that I know of.

FYI - Mine was a military folding stock, 858-2

Got my rifle back. Wolverines gunsmith did a great job. He welded the nut into the receiver. It's not going anywhere now! :D

THANK YOU to Wolverine Supplies for taking care of me. I'm a very happy and satisfied customer and I will be back!

I took the gun out to the range today and put 300 rounds through it. It was a lot of fun :). Can't wait until I get some hand guards and start mounting optics!

ps Wolverine is now selling 858 30/5 Magazines for 25$ each
