cz 858 furniture

If I had a 858... I'd get this furniture (scroll down a bit):

Someone should order this set as I think it is the best looking furniture for the CZ/VZ rifles going.

Palinak: Could you post a pic of a rifle with that stock?
I haven't stopped thinking about it :) I called Wolverine today to check about the 858's and they have plenty in stock... I have to see how one looks to push me further ;)

I had a chance to hold one with that stock on it.When i first saw the pics of the stock i didnt like it.Now that i have seen it in person and felt how comfortable they are i will be buying one.

I bought a full set of wood furniture when I used to own an 858. I still believe a "real" gun has wood on it. A full set from Numrich might run $100.00, so it's something to consider beforehand.

I think on numrich it's listed under the 58 designation. Since it's essentially the same rifle there's no modification required to fit it.

I had to cut the plastic buttstock off with a dremel because no screwdriver would turn the original screw because of the locking nut.

My beaver-puke plastic stock was on so tight I stripped the screw and tried everything before I cut it. It was a last resort. I don't know how there could be any emotional attachment to it since this is a sporting rifle with no history or collector value.

The white lettering is Czech military writing, so I didn't consider it desireable to remove it. I suppose you could remove it if you wanted.

If I were to do it over again, I would use a shellac with more red in it.

Yes I'm sure there's lots of historical value in a new sporting rifle.

Let my destruction of my 858 stock be my contribution to all those out there who abhore this stock. I'm sure there are people who like that "beaver puke" but sometimes you have to vote with your dremel. That's one less POS resin-chip stock out there to stab you in the eyes (albeit metaphorically).
