I was at the range this past weekend and mentioned to a fellow that I had a CZ-858 on order.

He told me to be leary of the purchase as it wouldn't take much for the government to declare them as prohibited like the G22s.

What is your opinion on the issue?

Could happen. Who knows, outside the inner circles of the Liberal Gov't or the CFC? If Jack Layton were to make it a condition for the survival of pimpim's gov't, it could happen sooner, rather than later. Keep in mind though that the G22 situation is special. The functional part of the firearm is still non-retstricted, it is the stock which has been administratively determined to be prohibited. And the CFC has taken no action to enforce this administrative determination so far, so I supect that there is concern over the validity of the administrative decision. It would require an Order in Council to restrict or prohibit the CZ-858. With an election pending, the Gov't is only going to do something like this if it can see short term political gain.

The G22 was prohibited because of it's bullpup stock/design. Does the 858 look like it has a bullpup stock? NO!

So the only way the govt could prohib or restrict the 858 would be through an order in council, in which case you can almost guarantee that the SKS, Mini 14, AR180B, P90, and anything that even REMOTELY looks black will be on that OIC list.

The lieberals are in no shape to start banning guns again, even with the support of Jack ###ton.

In short, moving the 858 to prohib status is not completely impossible, but is highly improbable at this time. More useless scare tactics.

Also note that the 858 isn't 'newsworthy' yet as there are so few of them in the country. The SKS on the otherhand is starting to pick up steam as an 'evil' black gun.

Fun thing is that the media (and the general public) couldn't tell an SKS from an AK from an 858 if it hit them in the head. Most people think all 'those' guns are banned. Point is that there is no media call or public opinion call for the ban of any weapons (because most people in Canadia are so misinformed about the gun laws that they just assume they are banned).

My girlfriend's uncle, a hunter and gun owner, when I showed him my SKS, told me: "you better not let the cops see that thing".. to which I replied "it is registered and non-restricted" to which he replied "you can't register guns like that".

Hunter, gun owner, Moron.

Like all the other sheep-bots that make up the population, media, and government of our once great nation.

Hey you remeber a while back I was tell you guys about the city police officer who started shooting off about the Vz58's being put on a BAD black list.. I tend to agree with greendoh. Some people cannot read a simple range notice and make #### up. Example, I was told this weekend my range was closed because the RCMP rented the range for 3 days ( friday, sat and Sunday), turns out the story tellers couldn't read and the real story was that the RCMP rented the range for 1 day (Nov2nd) to do a tactical and pistol training. **So my point is, beleive it when you see it in writing

I think once the backlash over the current "can't shoot 12(x) guns anymore" dies down, there will be a huge round of OIC's banning all kinds of what the gov and cfgc considers military style guns. Wendy got her way on C10A where the CFO won't issue range ATT's anymore for 12x owners. She always #####ed about "why do we let people shoot these guns that we don't want then to have", now they can't.
That ho and her org. are always working on the politicians........

Wow how the hell did that happen, getting parsing errors now. Geeze someone fix the posting plz.

seems to be an issue using .php parsing. I think the admins need to install the most recent .php fix as it is duplicating and triplicating posts.

I have no doubt that there is a "secret agenda" (conservatives aren't the only ones who might have one) to incrementally increase the number of restrictions. This has been the case going back for years and years, and is certainly what has happened everywhere else.
