CZ 858 stock removal

I used a big-ass screwdriver with a square shaft, leaned on the screwdriver grip and turned it with an adjustable wrench.

they dont make it easy do they? gotta get a small drift for the lower handgaurd roll pin so I can change it to the nice wood furniture. I will post some pics when done.

Hey guys, I have yet another question for all the CZ858 moders out there. I can’t get the folding stock screw to move in the slightest. I have tried everything suggested in this thread and the VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1 thread. I even found a 27 inch screw driver that will work perfectly when I put the new wood furniture on. Looks like my last option is heating the inner receiver area as suggested. My question is, are we talking a hair drier for a long period of time or are we talking a blow torch? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

I would use an impact before taking a blow torch to the receiver. IIRC the receivers are case hardened and you would be ruining that with a torch.

Again, impact driver, fitted with a socket,Ground tip on a chisel to fit the screw, Install the chisel in the socket & remove screw... I had one i had to warm with a torch, the rest came right off after a couple of whacks!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I thought for sure I would need a jackhammer and a flame thrower. But in the end all I needed was a bench vice, my newly acquired 27 inch screwdriver and a favour from a machinist buddy. Took him two minutes to diagnose and solve a problem that I was baffled on for 4 hours. His professional opinion was to use heat as a last resort and even said that a propane torch may not have been hot enough. Anyway she off and the new one will be on shortly. I will post pics when she is done and of the ridiculous screwdriver I needed.

Here she is. Works perfectly on the stock bolt, no so perfectly on the folding stock bolt or eyeglasses.
