I was told by the service guy for CSA that it can be problematic/dangerous to swap parts between these rifles.
I have several parts kits and two rifles. My question is: When swapping parts what specifically should one look for and measure? I know there is something called "headspace" but I have no idea how to check that.
If anyone can help or point me in the right direction that would be really appreciated.
thanks.

Other than replacing bolts, locking blocks and maybe gas Pistons I don't see any problem, and even those could be used with headspace being checked and tested. Early csa rifles are built from surplus parts to begin with. I think it's just a disclaimer...

Headspace can be checked with a specific gauge for caliber, or a trip to a gunsmith.

I just replaced the bolt on my vz58 with a surplus 858.

It's a pain to find a headpiece gauge in Canada so instead I used the tape method to get it close.

You just need a few unfired 7.62 rounds and masking tape.
