****UPDATE AT BOTTOM****

Got gun apart, still need a fix though.

Hey all.

Well, Im having a slight problem with my CZ (non-restricted if that matters) which I did not foresee, and hope its nothing big.

Background info: Bough the CZ new and had it tabbed by rauch to prevent the "gremlin." I shot between 40-50 rounds through it 2 months ago and have not shot it since, other than trigger pull exercises to test myself.

Just two days ago I was testing my steadiness with a target I have on the wall and the gun was functioning fine. charge handle, pull trigger, click. Yesterday I go to to the same, charge handle, pull trigger, no click. I repeated this multiple times with the same result.

I go to take the dust cover off to see whats going on, and I cant.....

Other info that might help. When the safety is off, every time I pull the trigger, the trigger pin moves clockwise and wiggles out a little bit and there is left and right play in the trigger because of this.

Ive read reports of Rauch tab welding being below par and breaking off, but doubt that is it.

If you have any info, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

let deal with one problem at a time .

i think your striker is still engaged thus preventing the removal of the top cover .

1. remove the pistol grip and take a look whats going on in there .

2. if the striker is still engaged then using a coat wire hanger , bend at 1/4" from the end and try to hook the sear .

I had my tab break off after about 150 rounds and jam the action up which made fieldstripping impossible...I racked it many times and eventually got the tab loose (it was bound up in the spring IIRC).

Anyway if your situation is similar, you could try racking the gun over and over and over while holding it in different positions. Worked to get my rauch tab out.

Yikes I had the same issue too! It's like a batch of trigger pins were released that were out of spec (too small). I'm embarrassed to say but I had to dremel the the dust cover in half to remove it as nothing I tried would work. I now like to check any CZ-858 I buy for trigger pin fit. To me that should be a WARRANTY issue for sure.

Try pulling the trigger back to the right and left this may engage the trigger mechanism. You may have trigger group slop and if you do you need to shim the trigger group with a small washer. There other threads on this issue.

Thanks for the replies so far. I dont want to mess with anything if its going to be a recurring problem anyways. This happened before IIRC, but when the dust cover was off, and it began working randomly.

Pin wiggling out. most likely the problem

A few more quick questions though.

Is there supposed to be a big weld mark under where the pistol grip sits? I took a few pics of that, and a few others to see if they help.

Weld?

Pin wiggling out like this just from pulling trigger a few times.

Basically, at this point, I stripped everything I could off the gun, and am ready to send it in to the nearest person to fix it. Its pissing me off that a new gun has problems, even if small. What can you do though right?
Look like the trigger pin is not lock in place, check if the small lever inside the receiver right hand,is in the correct position.

Can anyone recommend someone to send the gun to in Ontario. If I cant open the gun up, I cant do anything, plus, its a recurring thing, so there must be a permanent fix.

Thanks for the replies so fare everyone.

Alright, so I ended up following the advice of curtton (thanks to you and anyone else who posted) and I ended up getting it apart. When I got the dust cover off, the trigger pin basically fell out leaving the sear loose to move around. This has to be the problem.

When the pin is "in" (if thats what you want to call it) there is a little left and right play which Im not sure is normal or not.

Snapped some pics of the inside:

(Note the placement of the sear compared to next pic, moves right, normal?)

(See the difference?)

Please, anyone that knows lend a hand!

First the depress the tab as svt1940 has show you. Then make sure this pin goes inside the whole. Once all the pins are properly place in there corisponding wholes on both sides of the reciever then put the retainer lever back into the lock postion.

Ok.

The lever was indeed down, in the unlocked position. I put the pin back into place, and attempted to lock it, but it wont. It appears who ever put my gun back together (Rauch) bent the lever. This would explain why the gun shot perfect for 50 rounds, and then the problem occurred.

Yep it sure looks F.U.B.A.R. to me. Since it's an CZ 858-2 I would call Wolverine and talk to Wolfgang and ask him if he could have a chance to look at it. As to properly repair this defect will require a gun smith's touch. If you get what I mean.

Bohemian, those locking "T" plate can be bent back quite easily . make sure the pins are all the way in .

satain, is that pic big enuff?

If anyone could give advice on how to bend it back I would appreciate it. You guys have been very helpful so far!

Thanks.

I will never get the 'tabbing' done now. I got word the way to fix the trigger not resetting is to remove the sear and bend up the sear spring. Sure enough that fix worked like a charm on my CZ-858 and I like not having to send anything 'away' for service especially with the clowns working in Canada Post sorting depots.

If you want to send it to us for service we'll give you a deal. Worse case we have to replace the locking tab, I'm sure we have a few in the shop.
