Thinking of getting a CZ 858.

How's the trigger pull and weight on them? Heavy, lot of creep, etc?
I like triggers around 4lbs or less which are smooth. Gritty creep I cannot live with. At least tell me if I can modify the trigger for better pull and smoothness if they are rough.

CZ 858s are great I have 3 of them and love them. The trigger weight is exactly 4lbs if I'm not mistaken.

There not the best trigger but not bad for what it is. Depends on how picky you really are but for the type of rifle I found the accuracy was poor compared to a sks and other rifles in the same caliber but it really depends on what you want its not bad for what it is its just not a tack driver.

Definatly not a tack driver but like you said for what it is it's not bad. Remember these guns were first designed to be military full autos and most firefights take place at less then 300 yards.

I found after 500 rounds my trigger got smoother. Over 3000 rounds now and still works good.

I heard and read the CZ 858's had better accuracy than an SKS. Am I missing something else here?
My problem is I can can only order online and prefer to try before I buy.

If you get the non-restricted version 858 it is more accurate then a SKS because of the longer barrel. If your looking for a gun that's fun too shoot, reliable, easy to maintain, has lots of aftermarket accessories you can't go wrong with the CZ 858 or even a good SKS.

I would say it is about 5lbs maybe a little less. It is not gritty at all but there is some length to the pull, the reset is alright. For a military trigger it is pretty good, it has been a while since I have shot a mil-spec AR trigger but it is better than that for sure.

Yes, I'd want the non-restricted version. I'm interested in it because they are more accurate than the standard SKS.
Easy maintenance sounds good to me, but my concern is not to get stuck with a bad trigger as I see nothing on the internet on how to improve them.

They are almost identical. CZ 858 Tactical: A semi-automatic variant designed for the civilian market in Canada, assembled from unused parts from when production of the military versions ended. Available with standard (390 mm) barrel length on the restricted -4V version, or extended (482 mm) barrel length on the -2 version. The barrel is not chrome-lined in the -2 version unlike the military and -4V version. External components have a new varnish coat (identical to the coating used on original military rifles).

CZ 858 is the Canadian name placed on the rifle, it is a VZbyCZ just renamed for CZ 858 for Canada.

The triggers are decent as many of said it is what it is, FUN AS HELL

Accuracy is certainly not worse than an SKS. Of 3 CZ's I've seen group against 4 SKS', the CZ's all out performed the SKS'. This is not definitive based on the low numbers, but looking around on CGN you'll find the same results. As for the trigger, I'm not a huge fan. I certainly don't hate it, but I would improve it had I the know how. Just don't like how it breaks, the reset is much longer than I'd perfer.

Does somebody carry spare trigger parts for these rifles?
Looks like some experimenting is in order for a match trigger design. I think there would be an interest in it with the amount of rifles and mods everyone does to them for CQB.

Umm... the SKS has a 20" barrel and the 858 19".
