Over the last few years I have come to really prefer peep sights over the open sights. Other than my Enfield and my 858 I have managed to switch and or purge most open sight rifles/shottys from my collection.

Does anyone have any experience with Peep sights for the 858/58?

I am looking at one that would harmlessly replace the rear open sight in its slot, so I can always switch it back. But I have never looked through a peep sight that was that far forward on a gun. Most are right near your eye. Is it still easy to get a good sight picture with the peep infront of the chamber?

Anyone have any suggestions or which type worked for them??

I will likely buy the one from cannada ammo or maybe the EE if something pops up.

 
The RavenEye is the best design currently available.... It's more like the original RauchTactical one and offers sliding height adjustment just like the original sight.

I had one on my 858 before I sold it. I rather liked it. Sight picture was not to shabby. Bough it from a sight sponsor who made them. I will be damned if I could remember which one at the moment.
 
I have both a raveneye and hical peep on my sks's and the hical peep on my vz58. I'm very fond of them over the stock sights for my crappy eyesight. Much faster sight picture!
