I know I am late on this but I have not been on here is a long time. I own a CZ 858 and I have just heard that they were moved to the prohibited list. Does this mean I need to turn it in or do I get to keep it and just not allowed to use it or buy any more?

DO NOT TURN IT IN!!!

We will win the fight to keep these, check the threads in that forum.
 
I did read some of the posts about it and I was able to find out that mine is one of the ones that will be considered prohibited as it has the 10 stamp on it meaning it was made in 2010. I just wanted to know if we are required to turn it in or do we wait for the RCMP to contact us?
 
DO NOT TURN IT IN! The government has enacted a 2 year amnesty that will carry on until March 2016 and effectively and legally keeps them in our gun safes for now. This also gives us plenty of time to have the RCMP's ruling overturned.

Note this:

Objectives
The objective of the amnesty is to protect individuals and businesses from criminal prosecution while the Government takes the necessary steps to allow affected parties to continue to possess and use their firearms.

You wont get a letter from the RCMP.

Take the bolt out. Store it locked up in a separate room from the rifle.

I have an old gun locker where I lock up my ammo, it's in another room. That's where my 858 bolt now resides.

Gentlemen , lets take it easy.....the OP just asked a simple question and is seekng clarification on the issue . The short answer is hang onto it for a couple of years as it is legal to do so ( amnesty ) . Your rifle is now an offical safe queen for the time being until this mess is straighten out.......hopefully in the favour of the folks who bought these rifles in good faith .....you may even want to keep it quiet that you even own one of these rifles until you find out which way the wind is blowing on this issue...Best of luck....

You can see this is a very sensitive subject, emotions are high. Just hang in there, you'll get to keep and use the rifle. But clearly you can see that the sentiment about this entire issues is

no compromise!
 
You may want to add your letter to your MP (and Prime Minister Harper, Minister of Public Safety Blaney, CPC MP's) objecting to this reclassification and demanding a real of the Firearms Act.

If we do have to surrender our rifles, I have a wonderful shipping container/gun case to send my baby away in. A 12" x 12" x 36" wooden crate filled with 450 lbs of concrete. I'll send it C.O.D.
