Well that was fast... 300 rounds down range, a bit of dry-firing and my shadows trigger return spring breaks :(

It broke as I was slowly pulling the trigger and releasing it before the hammer snapped, I did this about 3x in a row and then noticed the trigger didn't reset once I finally pulled it all the way and let the hammer fly. Took it appart and sure enough, busted spring...

Is this a common problem with the shadow? I tossed out the manual long ago without reading it, am I not supposed to play around with the trigger like I did?

SA pull is pretty light right now, maybe I should leave it broken ;)

nones ever heard of such a problem with the shadows?

I'd like to know if it was a faulty spring or just the way I handled the trigger...

musta picked another lemon.

I've done plenty of dry firing and mucking about with the trigger on my Shadow and have never had a problem. You probably just got a spring with a bad temper. These thing slip through when they are made by the thousands. Get a hold of a cz dealer or a smith and they can get the new spring for you.

Don't get discouraged by a $2 spring.

Cheers, Aric

Contact CRAFM in Montreal, they take care of CZ warranty in Canada and have plenty of spare parts for the Shadow.

The Gunsmith and staff are very knowledgeble too.

cheers

I had a similar misfortune and discovered some chatter to the effect that this is a common weakness in some samples of the CZ family of pistols.

Mine was out of warranty so I ordered a replacement spring & trigger pin from Angus (www.czcustom.com) and replaced them.

Getting everything aligned on reassembly is a bit awkward but using a cut down finishing nail as a slave pin did the trick for me.

So far (~ 300 rounds plus many more dry) so good with the new spring.

Exactly what I did. The nail is exactly the right width and if you cut it, you can set it up on the trigger, drop the trigger and spring in and push the nail out with the pin... it took me forever to get the trigger back together the first time which led me to figure this trick out... now it's a breeze that takes seconds.
