Would this be suitable? I really like the over/under but funds are limited. Based on my shooting volume now I estimate no more than 1000 rounds fired per year. Will the Canvasback hold up to that? Anything else in this price range you would recommend? And I know a B gun is the right way to go but finances will not allow it, not even a used one, so please don't bother recommending one. Thank you.

Yes, the Canvasback will hold up to 1000 rounds a year, they are actually a very well built gun for the money.

I dont know how it will stand up over time. 1000 rounds a year isn't really enough to break a modern gun.

If you can find a dealer who has a Baikal in stock, It would be worth looking at, they are ugly but will stand up to years of abuse, I got my uncle's old baikal sittin in my safe, 30 years of steady shooting and still going strong.

Thanks for the input. I have been shooting between 50-100 rounds each outing. I will only get out to shoot a few weekends a year so a true sporting clays gun would be overkill. We have snow on the ground from October to May so it's a pretty short shooting season...

The first outing went well. I only shot about 50 2.75" 7/8 Oz #8 target loads. The action is very tight to begin with and got tighter as the shooting heated things ups. I'm sure it will be fine once it breaks in, plus I should probably lube it a little better. One thing though is that the recoil is much more noticeable than on my Norinco HP9 which has a Hogue overmolded stock set. Is there a pre-fit recoil pad that I can buy that will fit this shotgun? I'd rather not get a grind to fit pad as there is no gunsmith in my town. It doesn't have to be exact, something that was a close fit would be acceptable. Thanks.

I'd get it cut and a good recoil pad installed, it will make a world of difference.
The Canvasback is a good gun, my hunting partner shoots one and loves it.
