So I think I want to try a CZ, I been watching waiting and well I think it is almost that time. I am looking for a 9mm CZ. They offer of course many versions.

From what I understand the "Shadow" has been labelled as the IPSC/IDPA (goto) gun.

Btw I'm a range shooter not going or interested in competing however like anyone want best? ;)

Typically I like adjustable rear sights but honestly if the gun is on it really is not crucial either.

I have S&W M&Ps, XDM, Glock just want to also try a CZ

I'd like to hear from those that have or have had or shot all versions of the CZ in 9mm and what you feel based on some "reasons" was your favorite one? :D

Now no pissing contest here required just interested in making an informed decision based on what the differences of their models in fact are, thanks for your time!

Shawn

I have a PreB CZ75 that is a really nice gun for the range or anything else for that matter. You would do well with one or one of the new CZ75B's.

I can only speak on the SP01 Shadow as I own one, but I will tell you of all the pistols I have shot- it is almost unfair how accurate it shoots.

Yes I've heard that they are very accurate which is my interest indeed. I am looking for a version "NOT" shiny, I'm an all black or OD guy :)

Right now I guess if I can get chance I'll need to get to a shop that has these, from what I can see it seems the only differences are the sights really, between the sp-01, shadow and the tactical..

I have owned a CZ75, a CZ75B omega and now own a Shadow. The CZ 75 I should have keep but I had problems shooting it, not the gun's fault but mine and I was too green and had no guidance. The CZ75B I did not like. The trigger was not all that and actually quite stiff with a lot of creep. Now the Shadow I have is awesome. The trigger is smooth and light, the extra weight on the front from the rail makes it easier for me to shoot. I am still green but I can shoot a nice 3" group out to 10 yrds :). I wish I had started with the Shadow. It is awesome.

I have a 75B with a Competition Hammer, a spring kit, ad Houge Wrap Around Grips. It is a great shooting gun.

The Shadow is great, but if you have any desire to shoot IDPA, it's not the right gun. You have to do some work to get it to make weight.

If you like the CZs also take a look at the 85 Combat. If I were doing it over, that is the choice I would make.

Anthrax, why the 85 combat in comparison to what you have tried?

I do not plan on IDPA etc, just range shooting as time permits, so trigger weight, gun weight etc all makes no difference to me in that respect. :)

I am an IDPA Shooter, the 85 Combat is heavier then the 75B, but makes weight with out any work, does not have the Firing Pin Block, and has Adjustable Sights.

It also has Ambidextrous controls, but that has no bearing to me.

It's mostly the weight, and the sights for me.

HTH,

Matt

IMHO, go with the shadow ;) . Great shooter

I own a Shadow and have shot a standard CZ75. I can definitely say the Shadow trigger was better. Also (for me) I liked the feel of the Shadow better. It is weighted different and just feels right to me.

Everyone is different though. I recently met a guy who won a couple of Shadows in IPSC matches and sold both of them. He hated them.

Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Owned all of them at one time. For me its a toss up between a 85 Combat & SP01 Tactical. For my 12 year old son, the go to side arm would be the 85 combat. If the SHTF, that what he said. LOL .

Currently have a CZ 85 Combat with fiber optic front sight as wsell as a Shadow. Did the trigger on the shadow, which is now slightly better than the CZ85C. Like the sights on the 85C better with smaller fiber optic than the Shadow. Both are great guns. Use the Shadow for IPSC "cause every one is!" Took black badge with 85C. Can't see selling either of them.

Cheers

Compared to another (CZ-75) version, the thumb safety on the CZ-75 Shadow is as superior as it's trigger.

Once you handle the Shadow, I doubt you'll be satisfied with another (CZ-75) version.

Great info so far fellas, thanks! I took a look online the 85C does NOT have rails up front for lights/lasers not that I use them however looks wise I like a rail for sure.

Imo combat and shadow are the same internally. The only diff would be weight and beaver tail.

I have a Tactical and really like it. I also want a gen 4 Glock so I'm going to sell it. Will I regret it? You bet.

Just buy the glock to then? If I buy a CZ once I get my mind made up and learn more of them that would be #5 in 9mm fashion for me :) Crazy but hey you can't have enough can you? :D

Shadow here, but be warned- the rear sight tends to drift sideways, and you may need to have it adjusted and a longer set screw installed.
It's still great, though.

Not enough money for all the toys I want. Unfortunately.
