I noticed that the new model CZ 455 Lux is now made with a shorter barrel compared to the 452 model by 4”. Does this make any difference in the 22 lr ? I would imagine the longer the barrel the better it is for using iron sights but what about for velocity ? If I remember correctly the ideal length on the 22 lr. is around 16”. Anyone care to inform me on this...

Longer barrel makes no significant difference for velocity in .22LR. I am sad that they shortened the barrel so much, what I really liked about the 452 was the balance and handling with its longer barrel. Nearly everyone makes a short barrel .22, too bad CZ chose to join the pack. A longer barrel is not only better for iron sights but is also quieter if you are not wearing hearing protection.

I received my CZ 455 Lux a few days ago and yes the barrel is shorter. They also changed the design of the forearm and rear iron sight. The rear iron sight is not as adjustable as the 452 model.
Coming back to the length of the barrel, I forgot all about noise factor. The rifle does handle well but I still prefer my CZ 452.

On a side note ,the CZ-USA does list the CZ 452 Ultra Lux with a 28.5” long barrel. This rifle would make a nice target shooting rifle in iron sights...
