Hello

My CZ Shadow came with a few of the stock CZ mags with the ~1" plastic bottoms.

Want to get a few extras and it looks like there are the similar stock ones for $60 and Mecgar all metal for about $40. Any recommendations?

Also if allowed I would like some sort of oversized basepad to avoid pinching my hand which I have done a few times. Are they allowed in IPSC production?

I would like everything to be IPSC production legal. Maybe IDPA legal as well in case I wanted to try that sometime.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Chris the full length Mecgar mags work well. I have had mixed results using Tanfoglio mags in my guns. Some work some don't. Check out IDPA rules regarding base pads. The gun still has to fit in the IDPA box and I suspect some base pads that work for IPSC may not wotk in IDPA (length and weight). IDPA doesn't allow inner/outer belts where the outer belt does not go through all but two belt loops. A good 1 1/2" Wilderness Belt will serve you well in both sports. Lastly, IDPA does not allow dropped and offset holsters for men. I have found there is no difference in my times using a regular kydex belt holster and the dropped and offset. Some do. If you just have to have a dropped and offset than look for a holster with removable back plates. Blade Tec offers belt holsters with removable back plates that allow you to switch.

You can kit yourself out for IDPA and be completely IPSC compliant. The reverse is not true when it comes to belt/holster combos and mag base pads. Enjoy IPSC fun sport.

Take Care

Bob

I've got the IMI's on some of the Corwin Arms mags which some suspect were a previous version of the Mec-Gar mag and they are great. They also do fit on my new Mec-Gar's but I prefer the Mec-Gar +2 base pads for ease of disassembly.

I have the IMI's on Tanfoglio and Corwin Arms magazines. Every so often the base pad will walk off after being dropped on concrete, but it never actually falls off and the spring doesn't give or anything. Just have to check them when you pick them up.
The mags don't sit flush with the base of the pistol. It's not an issue for me, but is an OCD thing for some people i've talked to.

As for the IMI vs others? some people like rubber base pads, some like metal/aluminium.. it's a personal thing. The grip and feel are definitely different, so if you can use some, or borrow some before purchasing, would be a bonus. I'm sure you can resell them quite easily if you don't like them, however.

I have few Tang mags for my shadow and they work fine. I actually use the CZ rubber pads. Next batch i'll have to try some aluminum pads or the +2

Sorry new CZ owner, ya my 10 rnd mags have the plastic hollow base on them. Is there something that fits them? My next few mags will most likely be the MecGar one and will need floor plates as well. Not sure if the rubber or aluminum bases will be better.

See My post #3 in this thread. We're out of blued mags right now, but do have the chrome versions - easier to find in the mud. ;-)

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the great posts. Does anyone know if the Henning base pads will fit in the CZ 10rd magazines?

Cheers
Chris

If they are factory mags with plastic lower half then NO the Henning pads don't fit.

There is a metal lower piece available from czc and I believe some other venders (double tap?) Have them in stock. They add good weight and reliability to the cz mags. I have seen a few people using them in matches

Those basepads are extremely expensive lol. 40$ USD each.

People spend $40 on basepads all the time... the double tap ones are $30
I'm not saying this is the best option for cz mags it's just a good basepad for an oem cz magazine
