I was on the gunsnthings site drooling over the SP01, which I'm still saving for, and was looking at there o/u guns. They look great in the photos and the prices are fantstic. I was wondering if anyone had one and how they compare to Browning or Ruger o/u guns. I've been looking for an o/u for a while and can't afford $2-3K for one of the makes mentioned above. Just wondering how the CZ stacks up. If it's all good it looks like I have something else to save for.

CZ O/U are are made in Turkey not the czeck republic, for simular money there is a lesser known brand called Yildiz also Turkish and very nicely made very good value in terms of fit and finnish. I saw the complete line up at the buying shows for dealers that was held in Edmonton in Feb. I think their top of the line gun retails around $1500.00, and I might be high on that figure. Another brand for you to consider in the so-called budget shotguns.FS

I have had some experience with the CZ SxS model "Bobwhite" and from what I have seen the U/O's are built to about the same standards. For what it's worth, the two author review in PDF format is here: (dial up users beware - 5MB)

While there will be significant differences between the SxS's and the U/O's, you may still get an idea of the build quality and suitability for your purposes.
