Just wondering if there are any owners of either the redhead or canvasback. I looking for an over under in the fall and was wondering about there reliabilty and durability. Looking for a trap gun. Read that these guns have a five year manufactuers warranty. Thanks, pbonura

Either are pretty good guns for the money. I had a canvasback in 20 gauge. However, I would not be buying one if your intent is mainly trap. These are guns designed for hunting use, not the rigors of high volume trap shooting. They may last awhile but they were not designed for that kind of shooting in mind and shouldn't be expected to withstand that kind of use for long periods.

I have a very current production CZ Bobwhite. Very stiff when new and very robust. No issues. Some CZ experts say they are not 20,000 round a year target guns. I don't have the money for that many shells to find out.....

Hello

I have a redhead in 28ga. I bought it used about 2 years ago. It always goes bang, the trigger has always switched over to the other barrel and all the chokes pattern well. The trigger pull isn't the greatest but i have shot 25's with it at skeet.I have put thousands of shells through it. Time will tell about the long term. I'm happy with the gun.

CZ Redhead and Canvasback = Ruger Red Lable quality. Great shotguns, will last many many years. Go fondel a few at the gun shop. :jerkit:

"They are ment for hunting, not high volume shooting" :slap:

5 Years of warrenty!

If your not convinced these are great shotguns that will last then google search DeHaan shoguns. DeHaans are the exact same shotguns as CZ made by Huglu in Turkey but with the price tag of $3000! :shotgun: :runaway:

They are made by Huglu but not quite the same plus Mark Dehaan modifies the guns to his standards. Maybe not worth quite the extra that they cost but they are of a little better quality, supposedly.

The Huglu Forum (ShotgunWorld dot com) has a thread ongoing over the past 2-3 yrs regarding a Canvasback.....if memory serves, 20,000 rds so far (shot at clay) and still going without trouble.

Having said that, it is still a field model and not each and every CZ shotgun across the board could be expected to run that "gauntlet" without issues eventually. Those are simply not designed for high volume range use. I believe the CZ O/Us will perform ok in the case of casual range duties.

More often than not the CZ shotgun will come with heavy triggers with some being gritty as well. On the other hand, the bbls are well regulated.

HI pbonura

I own a canvasback in 20ga 26" barrel for small game and I just love it.
Light, smooth recoil, it shoots where you aim...

If I had to do it again, I would without any hesitation...on top of it, it comes with 5 chokes and has a 5 years warranty.

And when I go to the range for practice, I shoot 2 to 3 boxes each time and no glitch so far after 2 years.

Mine is a Redhead, 20ga, 26" barrels and many people who see it ask me it its a Browning. I would also buy another with out hesitation.
