CZ rifles: Laminate or Kevlar?

Which would you choose and why?

I chose the Kevlar, because I own a 527 Varmint Kevlar, and I really like the fit, the durability, and the stability of the stock in extreme conditions.

CZ's come with decent wood. I'd totally go classy and just wipe it down and give it time to dry properly over kevlar or laminate.

Unless you already own a nice walnut CZ, then kevlar would be my next pick.

I wish CZ's still came with that grade of wood but it doesn't seem like anymore.

As a little aside FWIW I wanted to lighten up my Ruger 77 ss that came with a lam stock. Everybody told me they were much heavier than even walnut stock so I bought one. When I took the lam off I noticed that the fella that floated the barrel and glass beaded the stainless had actually bedded it as well. Hmmm best check this out to see if there is a gain. Damn thing was within an ounce of the walnut stock so I put it back on. Heavier yes than a good Kevlar but still an interesting little bit of info. Dont like either the look or feel of plastic. Let the FUDD be with you!!

Laminate is more stable than a wood stock made from a single piece of wood, but it isn't quite as stable as a well made synthetic stock.

Kevlar is sorta a stupid choice for a stock laminate, I wish they made more out of carbon. As a composites guy, I can't see any reason to make a stock out of Kevlar, other than the fact that people in the shooting area are well aware of Kevlar in vests. Of course there are good kevlar stock.

An advantage to buying laminate (both are actually laminated, one is wood laminate, the other is a composite laminate) sight unseen is that it is normally stiff enough. Just saying Kevlar is in something means almost nothing as far as quality or performance is concerned. I hate mushy stocks that deforme under sling pressure etc... Also, it is easier to make changes to a woodlam stock than a composite fabric one of the type where all the strength is in the skin. If a laminate stock is light, it may not be impregnated and it won't be waterproof under the finish.
