Hey Gunnutz,

We've received a few requests for brass grips rather than the aluminum ones that we normally make. Before we ordered material I wanted to gauge the interest so I know how much to order. We're also looking for your opinion on expanding our line of grips. Please take a minute to help us out! The price for brass will be the same as the old price for our aluminum grips, and our aluminum grips will be getting a price drop. Brass will be $139.99 and aluminum dropped to $109.99.

- Are there any other materials you would like to see? Copper and bronze would be possible but would come at an extra cost compared to brass. G10 and Micarta should also be possible and would be around the price of aluminum grips. Any other materials?

- Flat or palm swell grips? Which do you prefer?

- How much grip do you want? The factory CZ Shadow 2 grips are pretty grippy but they are abrasive. We designed our grip texture to be similar in grip to the factory CZ texture but ours is far less abrasive which really helps on long range days. Does anyone want grips that would be more aggressive than the factory CZ grips? How about less aggressive?

Thank you for your input!
James - JF Gunworks

I'd love to see some G10 or Micarta palm swell grips that are an alternative to the limited brand selection on the market. I would prefer more abrasive grips for competition.

The lok palm swell G10 grips seem to have become a standard go-to item in competition circles. A Canadian alternative with a similar feature set would be big hit.

For me, the shadow 2 need some more grip and thickness even on my average sized hands.

Would love some brass for my Sig X5 AR...

Thanks for your suggestion! I'll have to see if there's any more interest. The Sig P226 grips are quite complicated so there would need to be a good size demand to make it worth designing them.

Thanks for your input! I'll start working on new texture patterns. I have some ideas that might be more grippy.

Looks like palm swell grips are being added to my to-do list. I'll also track down a source for G10 and Micarta. Thanks for your input!

Thanks everyone!

I'd be interested in this.
Brass or G10 grips. Maybe nickel?
Preferably flat grips, as my hands are on the smaller side, so reducing bulk on the grip is a nice plus.
The factory grips are nice and grippy, but as you said, abrasive. I'm fine with either the current design or one that is slightly less aggressive.

What about 1911? My major pistol runs micarta grips and if I could find something heavy AND really aggressive (and in a perfect world with a palm swell) that would be the bees knees.
Second wish for brass 1911 grips w/ moderate grippy-ness...

I'll have to add 1911 grips to the to-do list! Thanks for your suggestions!

Find a way to add texture to the back edge of the grips that are just tapered.

On the first pair I machined, the grip texture covered the entire grip but I thought that it looked odd so I went with the same style that CZ used. I'll have to play around with that again. It makes sense to have as much texture as possible to maximize grip. Thanks for the suggestion!

Brass grips are a go. The material is on order! :d

If you design them with an aggressive palm swell and some hefty weighting, I'd be interested. Also aggressive texturing.

should make sure they are compliant with the new restrictions for IPSC production division if you are planning on CZ Shadow 2 as well, otherwise anyone buying for competition won't be able to use them...
Lok is approved so it shouldn't be a big deal I would think

I'd imagine the brass grips would have to be covered in a laquer or varathane or they'd tarnish quickly. I'll stick with aluminum or G-10.

Yes, this is essential.

Hey everyone, I apologize for the delay. I've been really busy so I haven't had time for CGN in quite some time.

To be completely honest, grips have been a low priority for us. They don't sell as well as our other products. It may be because everyone has a different idea or personal preference as to what would make a good set of grips for them.

Once I get some spare time, I will make a few sets to have them in stock on our website.

Thank you,
James

would really like a couple sets of brass grips for the shadow2, any updates?
Hey barsik, I'll send you a PM about ordering a set of brass grips. Thank you!

I'll see what I can do about making a palm swell version. Palm swell grips seem to be the most popular option for aftermarket grips.

I contacted the email that IPSC provided but I have not received a reply yet. I will keep trying!
