CZ Shadow 2 Optic Ready Slide - how much additional fitting is required?

For the most part, it's the standard language they use to evade any potential liability. Realistically speaking they are drop-in slides, but due to the nature of the all steel platform and full length slide rails, you might need to sand the inside along the rails to ensure a proper and smooth fit. That's the most amount of fitting you'd need in the worst case I think. If I were you I'd try my luck with the OR slide and bet on a perfectly functioning fit without any tinkering. If it's a little tight, I'll keep shooting to break it in.

I have done this 3 times already for friends. The slide needs to be milled down 10-15 thousands per side as they come oversize to ensure a tight fitment.
You need a machinist to do on a milling machine to be precise and the fact that they are nitride and very hard to do by hand.
Barrel needs to be checked and possibly filed for good locking engagement.

as the poster above stated. I did it with mine and it cannot be done by the typical firearm hobbyist/enthusiast who also likes tinkering with their gadgets and understands basic mechanical systems. CZ nitrides the slides/ frames/barrels so trying to file or sand these surfaces down is not an option. the slide is manufactured oversized and will not fit the frame without machining. I took the original slide and barrel plus the new optic ready slide to a dedicated shop for fitting. you can't take the entire gun because of transport and storage regs so it's a bit of a unknown until you bring the machined slide back and hope the slide fits. on my gun the factory barrel fit the new slide without any issues but the slide rails needed to get shaved down a bit before it would fit the frame.

No gunsmith with a mill?
Just had mine done a few weeks ago. Gunsmith needed to take 18 thousands off the rails to get it to match the dimensions of the original slide. He said it was the most he ever had to take off.
Also CZ uses really hard forged steel. so the metal on the frames and slides will chew up bits and would be too hard to use a file on and get anywhere.
If you can't take the frame to a gunsmith to mill, bring the new slide and the original one so they can measure and compare. The best approach is to take as little off as possible over many passes.

I wasn't able to locate one in my immediate area that had the tooling to do the job. I took the slide to my local machine shop and he didn't want to invest money in diamond wheels for just one job. ended up taking the slide to a dedicated surface grinding shop.
