CZ Shadow 2 Optics Ready Review?

Good competition pistol, notice the slide is a bit hard to rack from the front, not sure if it requires a strong grip hand comparing to a Beretta.

Excellent pistol, no complaints apart from the rear of the slide having no serrations, which means either gripping the serrations at the front to rack the slide or adding some grip tape to the rear for something to grab onto. Shoots very well, the plates fit fine, I have not had any POA/POI shifts with my optic since mounting it (an RMR).

Played with one tonight at Steel, not a lengthy test at all, but I was very impressed with the difference in how the dot stays in my field of view better than with ones mounted on plates that attach via the rear sight dovetail. Gun was fitted with a DPP 2.5moa dot. Very easy to run across a Steel Challenge stage. Probably throw a lighter recoil spring in mine when I get it and run the same dot, at least until the new Aimpoint is available.

Except missing the rear serration on the slide as well as the rear sight is removable... it is pretty much same as the stock Shadow2. Compare with my friend's stock S2 bought when it first came out.. his trigger is a bit smoother.

Btw, do we have any info on when will the optic plates (especially Vortex) be available in Canada?

It's available, but most likely need to order from the dealer or disturbtor, about $80-90 each. Or yu know someone in Europe can send it to you.

CZ isn't going to be selling slides on their own anytime soon if at all, they have so many orders for complete guns it would be cutting their own throat to do that.

Triggers in the various guns always have some differences, that's why I work on them and polish and fit the parts that need cleaning up, as well as changing out springs. The gun I shot last night had the factory recoil spring in it and an 11lb hammer spring. I run a 9lb recoil in my normal 2 as I find anything heavier makes the gun nose dive, I did not have that problem last night with the OR gun, maybe the weight at the rear of the gun due to the optic helped with that? I'd have to spend a lot more time with it to really be able to tell. Once mine shows up I'll do just that. I don't mind the lack of rear serrations as I've gotten used to racking the gun from the front, but if I need to rack from the rear the optic is fine for that.
And yes I meant the Aimpoint Acro, word I'm getting from those that have played with it at SHOT is that it is going to kill all the other slide mounted optics out there.

I just bought one today! This is my first CZ pistol (Have a couple Sig P226s and a Kimber 1911). I really wasn't intending on buying anything today. I was just getting the front sight post on my P226 replaced (I have had 2 sets of Trijicon HD XRs break on me during install and am sick of not being able to shoot the Sig so I went with a Meprolight FT Bullseye, which seems really nice and I can't wait to shoot).

I was originally thinking of putting a DPP on the Kimber, but that would force me into Open division and I'd like to be able to shoot Classic, Production and Production optics.

Before I bought my first Sig, I handled the CZ SP-01 and decided on the P226 MK25 (my first 9mm). I wasn't a huge fan of the contoured barrel. It found that it made it hard to rack the slide imo. That said, the Shadow 2 OR is really nice. The thing that sold me on it are that it seems to fit my hand really well. It's very easy to pick it up and draw exactly the same way and have it come up perfectly level and lined up, with trigger in perfect position for my finger. Mag release is perfect for me as I require no change of grip to drop the mag.

I obviously haven't shot it yet but I expect to do very well with it. Can't wait for transfer to complete and get a DPP mounted to it. Only real flaw on pistol is the the lack of back serrations, but you're getting this one instead of the standard CZ S2 because you're putting an optic on it, so it's moot imo.

I'll also note that the fiber optic front sight is really nice and so it's more than serviceable without an optic if you have to live without one for a while. I found my sight acquisition really fast with it. Will update once I get to shoot it, both with and without optic.
