CZ Shadow 2 safety question

I recently disassembled my CZ shadow 2 completely for a deep clean. And next time I went to the range the right safety was popping out, I looked back and apparently there is a right "safety detent" which I am certain it wasn't there before. I did some research an some do have it and some don't. Has anyone had that issue?

Thanks in advance.

I have never seen that before. And I cannot see clearly from your picture what you meant by deterrent. I don't see a thing there.
I disassembled the whole sear/sear cage a few months ago in order to change the sear spring (and some other springs). If I remember correctly the right side safety has no spring and it's just being held in place by the left side safety. The left one has spring and a small piece like a detent plunger. The tiny safety spring has to be depressed with the detent in place in order for the left safety to be pushed completely through. It's a delicate process because that spring and detent plunger are small and mostly invisible.
My guess is that you didn't push the left safety deep enough to catch the right side safety?

I could be wrong, but I have done that couple of times, and the safeties are holding up very well now

There is a very small spring loaded detent that may have fallen out when you disassembled.

I didn't know that some don't have it though. I thought they all did

It's called "safety detent", I just found out about it. I don't think I can upload videos but after 4-5 trigger pulls the safety pops out.

So I looked online and nothing shows one having a spring except the left side. The right side shows just a little plastic tab, I have a Tekmat and it shows under number #15

It's called "safety detent" autocorrect made it deterrent, I just found out about it. I don't think I can upload videos but after 4-5 trigger pulls the safety pops out.

I'm fairly certain there are spring loaded detents on both sides.

Have you disassembled to see if you're missing one or both?

ONe other thing.

The sear spring is supposed to sit inside a groove on the safety cross pin....if it's not, that could cause the safety to pop out

From the picture though...it looks to be properly seated...and to be honest, I might be mis-remember which piece of the safety this sits in

Just did and yes I am missing that piece.. if you go to youtube and search "How To Disassemble The CZ Shadow 2 Pistol" it is a video made by eemantech and go to 5:08 you'll see it there and it has no spring

Right.

From the photo above it's apparent that the safety is not fully pressed into the pistol. It should be flush, and even rub against the frame a bit and you have a tiny gap.

I assume you've tried pressing it all the way in....is it binding somewhere? Maybe the sear spring or the detent is preventing the safety from fully seating and that is why it is working it's way out

I'm going to have to try that and see if it works... I was hoping that the other side of the safety held it together but nope..

The right side safety should be inserted first without sear cage in place. Rotate the right side safety to 90 degree and insert it through the hole in the frame and catch the detent, then rotate it back to horizontal. Then the safety should sit flush on the frame, there is not gap at all between the safety and frame.

Then the put the sear cage in properly.

Then you insert the left side safety, you may have to lift the left side detent a bit or depress the spring a bit to get it pass through the sear cage and catch the right side safety. The left side safety should hold the right side together, there is a small groove there doing this job.

From the picture there is a gap between right safety and the frame, but there is no gap between left safety and frame. So I guess the left safety is inserted properly but it didn't catch the right side or it actually pushed the right side outward a bit.

That the piece i'm missing the detent, I have looked everywhere and nothing. Called couple of store and no one has them in stock and they don't know when they'll get it.

it was definitely in place before you took the gun apart and it's amazingly common for people to lose them. use a magnet or a vacuum with cloth over the nozzle to suck around the area you took the gun apart. You'll probably find it.
There are two ways to install the detent and safety, first have sear cage out, right side safety off, and install the detent into its position, you should be able to see it visible through the hole in the frame from the right side, looks like a tab sticking out. Then place finger over detent to hold in place, and rotate safety up 90 degrees (look at the shape of the part of the safety you're inserting and look for the flat spot, line that up with the hole, insert, then rotate down to normal position. You can also do this with the sear cage holding the detent in place, but it's usually easier with fingers. The other way is, sear cage out, install safety and then fiddle around installing the detent into position. Use a little grease to keep them all together once installed if you're going to be messing around with the frame after, otherwise it will just all out again.

Thanks! I looked and nothing, called serval stores today and no one has it available. I guess I won’t be shooting my CZ anytime soon. Thanks again for the help!

If you have any skill with a file and access to a small piece of steel, you can fashion the detent up pretty quick. I made one ages ago to fit a frame that had a hole in the casting right where the detent sat, so a factory one wouldn't fit. I ended up using steel epoxy to fill the hole later on and went back to the factory detent. And trust me, back then, I couldn't file my way out of a wet bag.
But, for parts like this, hit the overseas vendors, they have em. Sebo weapons, Eric Grauffel shop, CZ Parts, Eemanntech etc. They all ship quick and you could add in a few other parts that you will probably want to upgrade anyhow.

But seriously, steal a pair of sheer panties, nylons or similar (tight weave, thin fabrics work best) and put over the vacuum, and stick that thing everywhere near where you worked on the gun, I bet you find it. And then, well you can use the sheer clothing for something else to celebrate after. hahahahahahaha
