Hey guys , need some help. I was cleaning my CZ Shadow and when re-assembling, I noticed that the firing pin had a long machined slot along one side. Does anyone know what position the slot needs to be in (6 o'clock, 12 o'clock, etc) ? You can see the slot on the right half of the pin. Any help is appreciated.

Just throw it in. If you look inside the slide's firing pin bore, you will note it is perfectly cylindrical, so that in itself is explicit. Further, the extended firing pin (optional replacement) does not have a key slot it is perfectly round.
Tight groups.

I noticed that too. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to break something by installing the pin incorrectly. Thanks for the info guys, mucho appreciated.

As long as it drops-in without any obstruction, you are good to go. Try it without spring and see if it will slide in and out out of the firing pin chamber. If there is key for the slot, rotate the pin until it fits. That firing pin might be standard fit to CZ firearms though I never noticed this in my CZ 85C and SP01 Shadowline. I will post my observation next time I clean mine.

as was noted above this is the same firing that is used in a few different guns, some with firing pin blocks, hence the slots, Shadows don't have FPBs so it can go in without worrying about the slot.
