I just ordered a CZ 455 varmint .22lr. I should get it next week sometime.

I'm going to buy a variety of match ammo to try, what are you guys using?

My Model 4 target rifle does very well with the top line Federal match ammunition. Have shot it to 200m.

.22s tend to have individual preferences. What works in one rifle might not be best in another. There can be variations from lot to lot.

By all means, get a selection, and test them carefully.

If I do my part, I'm getting 1/2" groups at 50m with my 455 Supermatch using CCI Standard Velocity. I bought some Eley and SK, but haven't gotten around to doing a comparison yet.

thanks guys, I think I will stop in and see what the local gun shops have. I hope they have decent stock, if not Prophet River seems to have SK and Lapua instock online but I know shipping ammo can be a pain.

I want to try,

Lapua center-x
SK Standard +
SK Subsonic
and Rem Yellow Jackets, just cuz they shoot really well in my dads Ruger 22/77 (1983 model)

Can't wait for the weather to get reasonable here, I live near Winnipeg so I'm used to cold but -22 C for a high is a little crazy for late Feb. Normal is negative single digits.

Hirsch Precision (Nova Scotia)has a fair stock of Lapua but when I checked last they were low on SK target ammo.
He has split out boxes of 50 but you would have to talk to Peter.
Target shooting products (Ontario)has Eley, RWS, and Lapua. Talk to Peter there too.
It will probably cost a minimum of $30 to ship a few boxes and possibly up to 4 bricks. The last case cost $60 from TSP.
The Federal Ultra Match is believed to be similar to RWS R50. Packaging is similar.

I have had good luck with rws target rifle and s match and for just plinking steel I use federal gold medal, it's a bit cheaper
Really to know for sure you have to get a box of every kind of quality ammo you can find and shoot it... Better yet find someone else who has done this and work out a deal to get about 10 rounds of each
Also it's a good idea to stay subsonic, most target ammo shoots around 1080 fps. It is more stable at long ranges

Early this week my CZ455 Varmint was put to the test with CCI MiniMags 40 grain solids.
The scope is a 4.5-14x42mm with the Ballistic Plex Reticle. This scope has three stadia marks below the cross hair.
The bottom stadia was used for 100 meters and the other stadia were used in order to check out elevations at 77, 60 and 40 meters.
Burris has a stick on for the 36 grain HP MiniMags showing 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150 yards(using the top of the bottom post).
For my purposed, all settings delivered MOG . . . Minute of Gopher.

I have a Sightron 4-12 coming with the HHR reticle for my CZ455 American.

This ammo shortage is throwing a wrench in my plans.

the only ammo I can find is RWS rifle match, every other place I called wanted a fortune for shipping.

I guess I have to shoot some of my cheap stuff I already have for a while until my local shop get more stock.

My CZ 452s like Centre X the most but it will also shoot SK Match and SK Subsonic quite well. Nordic Marksman normally has some of each.

Where are you located? Calgary Shooting Centre sometimes has the other stuff.
