If I wanted to change to a 13 lb hammer spring on my Shadow 1, do I need to be concerned about getting an extended firing pin / spring? What combo of recoil / hammer spring are you using?

There is no relationship between the main/hammer and the recoil spring. I’ll link an article below on tuning the recoil spring for your ammunition.
For reference in my case (new Shadow 2) I initially just installed a 13 lb hammer spring. Zero issues. I subsequently installed an 11.5 lb hammer spring along with a reduced power firing pin spring. Zero issues. I have the extended firing pin but have not installed or needed it. However I have only shot factory loads with Federal primers. CCI primers are harder.
As an aside I also then installed a reduced power trigger return spring. That alone took about .5 lb off the DA trigger pull.

Stock DA: 10 lb
13 lb. DA: 9 lb
11.5 lb DA: 7 lb 8 oz
11.5 lb DA 7 lb - with reduced power trigger return spring

After installing the full Cajun pro kit DA 6 lb 8 oz WITHOUT needing to install the extending firing pin again with Federal primers.

I’ve changed them both out also did a Armory Craft trigger.
Very happy! Did not change to extended firing pin.
Stock has been fine no lite strikes.
No trigger pull #s don’t have a scale.
But quite noticeable/ reduced.
I will grab a pin next time at shop just because.

extended firing pins are a waste of money. Simply put in your chosen hammer spring and, and this is important, a light firing pin spring. Do not use a reach reduction kit as that reduces the impact of the hammer in DA considerably. (I know you didn't mention a RRK, but so many people put them in, in an effort to get less trigger movement).
The hammer spring is what actually buffers the slide on his path rearward, all the recoil spring is for is feeding the next round. If you go too light you should use shockbuffs, like anything under stock hammer spring, use buffs. Otherwise springboxes (the part of the slide that houses the recoil spring and guide rod) can break off, or other damage occur to the locking block in the pistol.

Slavex, oh Dark One, if you were to modify a S1 for your yourself, what would you do exactly? Lighter Firing Pin Spring and....? What weight of hammer and recoil spring? Disco, hammer or trigger?
Asking for a fiend

I had good luck fitting a shadow 2 disconnector into my shadow 1 for less takeup in both double and single action. fooled around with some springs, i am someone who apreciates reliability vs some arbatrary # pull weight that didn't help my shooting anyway(just can't buy skill most times)... so all springs are stock on that one. fitted a single action only tactical sport trigger in my other shadow1. gets rid of the disconnector altogether so its a real sweet unit with take up and overtravel next to 0.

@ottoman, in a Shadow, not a Shadow 2, I'd run the super light firing pin spring, a 10lb hammer spring and an 11lb recoil. In a Shadow 2 I'd run a 9 or 10lb recoil.
The 10lb hammer spring is simply because of the crap supply of good primers right now, but for my match gun and Federal or CCI primers I run a 9lb hammer.

Slavex:
I acquired a NIB Shadow 2. Am considering competing with it sometime. I appreciate your feedback on using "super light firing pin spring and 9 or 10 lb recoil".

Do you consider the Cajun kit a good investment? I've played with a gun with the Cajun kit and gotta admit it feels very good.

I am currently stateside for the winter so can pickup whatever bits and pieces I need considerably easier down here. However, since my experience with this gun is zero, not sure what I should spend my cash on.

Cajun stuff is great.

Shadow 1 will greatly benefit from a CZUB “race” hammer or Cajun hammer. I find it clears up single action pull considerably.
In Shadow 2, I still prefer Cajun hammer, but the stock S2 hammer is not bad.

Hammer upgrade will require sear-to-safety engagement to be readjusted. To do so, carefully and slowly file the sear leg, until safety can engage again. If you remove too much material, hammer will fall with safety engaged. Cajun sells an adjustable sear, but I think it’s a silly concept. Just modify the stock sear, and if you mess up, a new CZ sear is fairly cheap.
It is better to order hammer, hammer strut, hammer pins, short reset disconnector, and replace the whole assembly. Stock hammer pins are staked, may be PITA to reassemble, and they won’t fit Cajun hammer, IIRC.

For a budget-friendly option, one could get this and call it a day:

@Slavex: have you tried Cajun or Eemann barrel bushings?

I used to be a Cajun fan, but not any longer. I found their springs to vary from order to order and their hammer springs to be far lighter than advertised. I would look to European makers for springs, ipsc4you, seboweapons, cesar-shop etc. Much better quality springs
