Howdy Gents, I trust you're well!
I am strongly debating the acquisition of this legendary pistol, for future competitive potential. That being said, I am unable to locate an optics ready model for a price that I can afford at the moment, bringing about my question.
If I am to purchase a standard version, is the optics ready slide interchangeable such as with other (more modular) modern sidearms, or will I be limited to having the original slide permanently butchered to accommodate an optic?
Thanks for your insights

Afterthought, slightly off topic: Is there an optics ready slide that would fit on a standard Beretta APX, available in Canada?

It is much cheaper just to buy S2 OR from the start.

Alternatively, take a look at the Sig P320 platform. Newer Sig slides can mount optics (Sig Romeo 1Pro or Leupold DPP, no adapter required) and retain irons. Recently got one as backup for the CZ. The AXG metal grip is sweet, somewhat similar to Shadow geometry - I’ve held one, but didn’t shoot.

Yes, I gather that however the timing isn't optimal, given the scarcity of the OR version. With regards to the P320 recommendation, I've got many "duty" pistols already and have my heart set on the Shadow2 platform, if I'm to invest further at this time. I have several APXs and may end up milling out the slide on my backup, if all other endeavors fail.

Well, if ya do end up picking up an S2....you won't regret it. I have larger hands and that unit just fits like a glove. It is definitely the fave in my safe.

Yeah, this is a common theme. I don't have any CZ hardware (kicked the tire too long on a vz58, thx justin) but have always appreciated them.

If you do buy a regular S2, you could get it milled to fit the oem plates, which would include the factory plate with the rear sight post on it that comes with the S2 OR. Then you could run irons or optics as you please.

I read somewhere that the slide profile differs on the S2 OR, would that not interfere with the OEM plate orientation?

The plate will overhang like a wide brim hat. :) Won’t look elegant, but it’ll work. If you cannot find the OR gun or slide, milling is an option.
