I am looking at these 2 pistols and was wondering how they compare and the positives and negatives of each model. Wondering which 1 is more reliable and accurate. Thanks

Reliability and acuracy will be about the same, thou, 85B has adjustable rear sight. SP01 seems to return to line of fire faster due to added weight infront, so, it'd be a better choice for rapid fire (competitions or service).

I would get the SP-01 in a second. 85 Combat has ambi controls if you need it, but in just about every other respect the SP-01 is superior.

I have had both and I prefer the CZ85 Combat. IMHO, I found the SP01 a little too front heavy and with the Production loads in 9mm, you don't need all that weight as it slowed me down a bit moving from one target to another. I am sure Angus Hobdell and Mathew Mink would say otherwise, but I like the 85 better.

There should be no difference in reliability or accuracy; they are both variants of the basic CZ 75 design.

Try them both and see which one you like best.

thanks for the responses. anyone else have anything to add?
so the sp-01 has rubber grips and the cz 85 has plastic? do the grips feel the same between the 2?

The grips that came on my SP01 were plastic...I don't if that's the case for all of them or not. The were nicely shaped, but I like rubber better so I put a set of Hogues on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all variations of SP-01 come with rubber grips from the factory. And they do feel better than plastic especially when you shoot and your palms get sweaty and slippery abit.. Considering all 'for' and 'against' and smallish price difference between the two - 85B and SP-01... SP-01 seems as a winner to me. Again, your milage may vary.
And if you are wondering, I do have SP-01 Tactical and am very happy with it. If it didn't exist, I'd go for 85B or 75B (in Canada).
I'm not trying to convince you or anyone to get one but to get a closer look at it as it's one of the best out there and was the best for me personally.

Rubber grips can be added if desired. I put Hogue rubber grips on my CZ-75 for quite a while but went back to the factory plastic.

I have not tried the SP-01 but I have a CZ-85 and a custom CZ-75 with a BoMar rib. The extra weight on the slide does reduce muzzle flip. I would think the extra weight in front on the SP-01 would have a similar effect.

I just bought the CZ SP-01 Shadow, you will love it, there is no negative about the gun that I can tell you. It is very accurate, has a great feel, sights are fantastic, fiber optic front, and the trigger pull, both double, and single are great as well. If you are thinking of the SP-01, then spend the small amount extra and get the Shadow. I was shooting a Glock, and my accuracy suffered.. (NOT THE GUN'S FAULT!!) I now hit the center much more consistant, due to the Fiber optic front sight, better feel, and weight of the Shadow. Cheers

I have both and love both. There are qualities and characteristics of both that I like and use for different reasons.

SP-01
- absolutely gorgeous gun
- very good balance
- heavier front shroud also helps with balance and keeps the front kick to lower level
- can add front attachments (i.e. light or bayonet)
- I have the thin cocobolo grips from GhostHolster on the gun and it looks very gorgeous
- the accuracy of the gun out of the box is amazing
- the slide springs are very stiff (lighter ones can be added) and the trigger needs some softening and polishing to make it smoother
- very easy to take down the gun to clean
- perfect gun for tactical training or competitive shooting
- durable finish
- night sights are very good especially in low light
- more comfortable for people with slightly larger hands
- heavier gun at over two pounds, almost three with full mag (unfortunately we in Canada do not benefit from the 19 round mag capacity for this gun which would be a HUGE deal)
- my only complaint of the gun is the steep curve to the trigger which for people with thicker fingers (me) causes some discomfort after shooting several hundred rounds. I will probably replace the trigger with a different model someday

CZ 85 Combat
- This gun has an adjustable trigger that is very nice
- after a few thousand rounds this gun becomes VERY smooth and is a very easy and accurate shooter right away
- trigger after several thousand rounds becomes very smooth and almost too soft. I figure mine is at about 3.5 lbs pull right now which is as low as I would go with it. Makes for great accuracy though
- slightly lighter gun and easier to maneuver than the SP-01
- more comfortable for people with smaller hands (my wife and son prefer to shoot this gun, probably because I don't let them shoot the SP-01 very much as I am very protective of it though!)
- recoil/kick of the gun is surprisingly manageable and low given its lighter weight
- components of the gun are very durable and designed for extreme use (never had a problem with any part breakdown or wear after almost 8000 rounds through my CZ85)
- the blue finish on my gun is very beautiful and durable
- lighter springs and trigger on this gun compared to the SP-01
- the adjustable sights on the combat increases the potential accuracy of this gun significantly
- I switched out the standard hard plastic grips of this gun with some very nice soft rubber ones to enhance the grip action.
- VERY easy takedown of gun
- mags are interchangeable between these guns (at least 10 round capacity ones)
- stainless steel barrel standard on this gun

I love both of these guns so much and for different reasons that I couldn't make up my mind on which to buy so I made an offer to my dealer and got a deal on a purchase of both. I do not regret the expense and will NEVER sell either of these guns. They will be passed along to my sons when I die as they are so fun to shoot.

Hope this helps.
